Default oil cooler?

hey guys. i have a 94 civic with a gsr 18g. i was trying to do some research on oil coolers, but i didn't really get much. something about stacked sandwich plates and a -10an line to the oil cooler is all i got.

can someone point me in the right direction? i'm looking to road race a little more, so my car will be getting abused, and keeping it cool is very important.

any help is greatly appreciated

Get a Canton sandwich plate. Its got 1/2" NPT fittings in it (one of the few sandwiches I've found with them), use -10 converters and run the lines to a cooler and back. I'd use an oil thermostat as well.
You can buy fittings, I think they're for fuel pressure gauges, but its a -10 fitting with a 1/8 NPT tap in it, I used one to feed my oil line to the turbo, and another on the return line to read pressure. The system seems to work fairly well.
I track my car.... the oil doesnt break 240, which is a little hot, but ok by me. The intercooler blocks most of the prime real estate up front.

I have a greddy and mocal plate stacked on one another. Its a tight fit with my breather ports for my catch can but we got it in there. -10AN lines run over the tranny to the cooler behind the FMIC.

It doesnt "shoot ****" into the oil. It is pretty much a radiator for your oil. It is cooled by the air. I wouldnt even bother with one unless you live in the desert or take you car to a road course type track.

This is one of the nicer kits Ive seen

The Mf kit is ok. The hoses that come with the kit is not the best plus it's heavy as hell for Hose ends. The filter mount is very nice, and the oil cooler is pretty big of good quality. The only thing that I didn't like about it was the hoses and the hose ends, plus it didn't have a thermostat.

I got the Kit on my EK so this is from experience. You can find the same kit cheaper but here are pics of it on my car.

A thermostat is just plain over kill unless you live at the north pole. There have been plenty of threads about termostats not making a huge difference in warm up times. So unless its a daily driver and you live somwhere it gets cold as hell, I wouldnt bother with a thermo.

I personally had a Mf oil cooler on my old car and loved it.

the oil filter has been relocated....instead of it being on the back of the block.
