maybe try amsoil for one oil change after your beakin just for all the detergents to clean your motor a bit, then go to something like the Mobil - if you use stock honda clearances (tight) you can even run ) 0W racing weight in warmish weather.
VW's have like 0 compression if they run this, another testament to honda engineering.

Why such heavy oil guys? I'm running 10w30, and I've only had this problem.

On startup on a 30 degree weather day, when the oil pressure rose, I guess the turbo seals let some oil leak til it warmed up, cause it smoked pretty badly til it warmed up. Once warm, NO PROBLEMS out of 10-30 at all.

BTW, I'm using Castrol 10-30 non synthetic still with a Genuine Honda Filter bought at the Acura Dealer's counter... I've only got about 1800 miles on it and I'm going to change to synthetic at 2k or so. NO BLOWBY whatsoever. I didn't even have a breather filter on it, and there was NO residue or oil on the engine at all. I now have a breather filter! Thanks Exquivical.

Always use synthetic on a turbo car, always.

Honda Tolerances are very tight the materials they use are all controlled expansion materials that expand / contract at the same rate. VW's use much looser tolerances its basically planned redundancy for longevity of their parts. try taking a golf 8V and replacing with 0 weight racing oil and taking the oil cap off the car will stutter and maybe even stall.
once of course you go to JE's you will burn a lot of oil during warm up enrichment cycle and carbon or dynamic turbo bearings may burn a little oil until operating temp is achieved.

rtype11, so your saying that the oil burning for about the first 3-4 minutes is normal?? I was so worried about it in the cold weather! It puffs pretty heavily...
