Oem vs Bronze Valve Guides
I'm freshening up a b16 head for boost 14-20psi with stock valves. It's mainly a daily driver so longevity is a factor.
Pros and cons of the two would be nice.

Unless they are worn. Worn guides makes for shitty seating of the valves and beats the fawk out of the seats and valves themselves.
Replacing guides is a complete PITA. I tried it and gave up. Take it to the headshop cause YOU CAN DESTROY YOUR HEAD IF NOT DONE PROPERLY!!!!!

I agree with 93lsivic. Change them only if you need to! Its a major bitch to take them out because you have to heat the head, then hammer them out. Then have the replacemnet guides frozen to install on the warm head. Is a PITA!!!

Re: Oem vs Bronze Valve Guides (gsr sol)
yea I do need to replace the guides, I took off the retainers and my valves were doing the "wobble wobble". I was planning on getting the oem ones anyways but i'm posting here to see what you guys think of the two. Yes, replacing guides should be done by a machine shop.

Re: Oem vs Bronze Valve Guides (Ray)
If anyone is interested I have a complete set (8) of OEM exhaust guides still brand new and in the honda packaging. They are LS i believe though....p/n is 12204-PR4-A01. If anyone is interested let me know, I'll get rid of them for less then what you can buy em for from the dealership.

Re: Oem vs Bronze Valve Guides (93LSivic)
When I have my head built AKA worked and ported, I'm having guides, seals, valves, springs and retainers replaced just as a little extra safty measure. The hed IS off a 1989 Civic, afterall. This isn't some 2001 GSR head.
Guides and seals I bought from Acura the other day. Thanks for the hook up, Acura of Memphis!
Retainers, Valves, and Springs, I'm going to buy as a package, just becasue one manufacturer generall tunes all their parts to work best together.
