OEM Crank VS. Eagle?
TL;DR at bottom
I've spent the last several months compiling a list of parts to use in building a B20 block ready for high boost numbers and 500+whp.
One of the last questions I have is in regards to the crankshaft. Originally I was planning on using a forged Eagle crank, but I've heard that it's often better to use OEM (I've heard that stock Honda cranks are forged anyway (which I think is incorrect? I thought they were cast?) and that Honda cranks have smoother edges as opposed to the "knife-edge" Eagle cranks that result in dropping out of high RPM and boost levels quicker, therefore being harder on the engine for daily driving.)
Also, I'm operating under the impression that B18B(LS) and B20(CRV) cranks are identical. I know at least they have the same stroke measurements, but is the length the same?
TL;DR - I'm trying to build this car as reliably as possible. Basically, I'm trying to decide between a forged Eagle crank with a stock stroke, versus an OEM LS/B20 crank.

i have used both and for your build oem is fine, but going all out I would use a eagle crank that has been inspected and gone over by a good machinist or something of better quality like scat or crower.

Stock cranks don't break and have been pushed past 1000whp yet eagle cranks are known to break and are junk and can't handle much power. Why would you recommend that?

OEM cranks are forged, (shot peened and nitrided iirc)
Most of the fastest Hondas still use OEM cranks
The only time I would even consider an aftermarket crank is when building a stoker... and even then I wouldn't run eagle, I'd call Manley

as i said before the cranks need to be inspected before use and may need work and i have seen both break due to improper install so please dont make it seem like oem cranks are bullet proof and if he plans to stroke he will have to go aftermarket but he said 89mm stroke so i said oem will be fine for hi build how is that bad advice?

The only time I've seen a broken one was when ups kicked my motor PFF the back of their truck and it fell on the nose of the crank... snapped it in half
while the golden eagle crank is still a good piece, like everyone is saying, oem are forged in every b series, and will handle anything you can throw at them, so why bother with anything else?
