Alright, here's what wound up happening.
I bought a set of acl race bearings. I mic'd them to be about. 0583 give or take a .0001. The oem pinks I have (and had in the engine previously) mic'd out about. 0585, again about. 0001 error. Seeing as they weren't that much thinner than the oem and that I had the oe pinks and reds in before with a small but non excessive amount of wear, I put a new set of oem bearings in with new bolts.

Thats what I mic'd pinks at too. Much thinner than "the" bearing chart that everyone uses.
What did the reds mic at?
And what was your final clearance?

reds were within .0001-.0002 of the pinks. just barely a difference. one of my rods was about .0015 with the "loosest" red bearing, the other 3 took pinks around .0017 which im cool with. it was really just that #1 cyl that seemed off which is odd because when i put the engine together last year about 3500 miles ago it was around .0017. im not sure why it would be tighter now with the same cranks and rods even still in the block...
i didnt want to go with the acl's to bring that 1 rod up to around .0018ish, as it would have made my other 3 rods a lil over .002. now if i only had the ***** to put 1 rod with the acl race and the other 3 using oems...
its still gonna be a few weeks till i get everything back together and running, so who knows if ill change my mind about it
Dont be afraid to mix and match. Ive always mixed and matched. Thats never caused a problem before. Go with whatever gets the clearance you want. Thats more important than brand.
Im using all ACL race HX in my build but I had my crank turned to give me the clearances I wanted. It ended up cheaper than buying 2 or 3 sets of bearings sizes.
