OBX LSD install
im about to install my obx lsd into my d16z6 tranny and was wondering if there is anything i should order new from honda and replace while i have it open? and also is there any kind of write up for installing this lsd into a z6 tranny? i already know once i get the lsd i should tear it down and "rebuild" it.
thanks

Your going to need the following parts to do it right. if i remember correctly its about $140 in parts
41312-PL3-B00 speedo gear
91005-PS1-003 Diff bearing (need 2)
91002-PSO-003 ISB bearing
91216-PL3-005 ISB seal
23927-PL3-000 thrust washer
23928-PL3-000 thrust washer
Just take your time and make sure you get your clearences right and everything torqued to spec.

if you have not done it before, i would take it somewhere and watch them do it for the 1st time. the tranny can get kinda confusing.
Mistabone on here did mine for me.

there is no need to buy those bearings when changing a OBX in. you'll end up potentially causing more damage that way. than if you just made sure the bearings are in good condition BEFORE installing the OBX.
you need a press them on and off which can be screwed up by even good tranny guy.
as long as the trans has no grinds the only thing gnna hang up up is getting the clearances per the manual, since there is sometimes an issues with the diff bearing clearnces.
i think Mista Bone recommended using a b-series oil control ring to shim it. i just took my time and actually ground my stocker tp spec and till last weekend the car hasn't had any tranny problems

But not Haynes ... I am 99% sure under trans my haynes manual talks about removal to take it to a qualified tech etc
no internal info.
I found a useful post on shimming and what not on here once, I'll try to find it again ... seems like it was about the installation of an ITR LSD ...

your not going to cause damage if you know what your doing.
im sure you could take some shortcut and not get some of the items listed, but for $140 bucks why not have brand new parts all the way around.

when i did my LSD install i replaced all my syncros cause they were junk.. just be very careful around the barings not to ding them and stuff and tourque everything down... i went right to my honda dealership and they printed off a detailed paper for me of the gears and stuff that had all the TQ specs... good luck man.. just keep it clean.

you used a piston oil ring right? I might try that.
the speedo gear is is not required to change, unless its broken.
