OBD2a to OBD1 conversion, now throwing Code 14(IACV)....help
*yes i searched*
Alright I built a OBD2a to OBD1 conversion harness for my 96 civic with a d16y7(stock) and now I throw a code 14. It appears that there is a IACV fix but seems to pertain to B series swaps only. But I also have been told I need to swap out my 3plug IACV for a OBD1 2plug. Is this correct?

I have the same issue w/ my 6th gen accord - 3 wire rotary-type IACV.
The only fix I know of in my case is to switch to a 2-wire IACV. That's one of the reasons I just bought an AEM EMS rather than do an OBD1 swap.

wow what you pay for AEM EMS this project will only cost me:
$25 ecu
$30 conversion harness
$25 chipping parts
$65 chip burner
$50 if i need a y8 or 92-95 intake manifold to get 2pin IACV
$00 for my time, i enjoy this stuff

$195 Total

thats fine and dandy but how do i hook up the obd1 IACV to my obd2 manifold they are completelty different. look at the picture above of the two. iam being told i need y8 intake manifold or 92-95 manifold. is this correct?
y8 manifold and IACV

92-95 manifold and IACV
so it looks like i can use either the y8 or 92-95 manifold and use the 2pin IACV off the 92-95, is this correct and is there any more options?

Yes - you need a different manifold to fit a 2-wire IACV...period.
There is absolutely no way you will ever get an ECU designed to control a 2-wire, to cooperate with a 3-wire IACV.
So you need a 96-98 Y8 5-speed manifold (or 99-00 and fill the air injection holes) and its corresponding 2-wire IACV. You will also need the main engine harness plug (for the 2-wire) so you can graft this onto your existing 3-wire harness (the orange wire is left hanging).

ive came to that same conclusion i just forgot to post it up. now i have to find a y8 IM.
can i use my old y7 ecu to run the 2wire or is it incompatible too? i want to be able to go between obd2a and obd1. is this possible being the y8 is 2 wire and the y7 is 3?

you can get your 3 wire to work... Perform the IACV fix on the ecu and instead of disregarding th orange wire and do not touch the sensor side.... tap that into a ground on the ecu and viola the 3wire works using an obd1 ecu looking for a 2 wire IACV... BTW im running this on my car as we speak... NO CEL'S and care runs fine

i followed this exact diagraphm when converting to obd1. fixed my problem :-)
