Default O2 Bung - Quick Question

Is 12-14 inches from the turbo (on the downpipe) too hot for a stock o2 sensor? How about for a wideband (ie. larger bosche sensor)?

Reason I'm asking, is my downpipe has about 16 inches of piping before the flex pipe, and no piping after the flex. And I need to get the car running like this, to drive it to my welder to get the exhaust done. So I need an o2 sensor on the downpipe, about 14inches away from the turbo outlet. Will this destroy the o2 sensor? Everyone I know tells me something different, some say closer is better, some say close = too hot. You guys?

Pic of about where I was planning on putting the bung (note, it would be more on the top-side of the DP, but about that far from the turbo)

TYIA!

Go for it, if its just to get to your welder than you have nothing to worry about.

True. But if I decide to use the bung for a wideband down the line, will it be a problem?

18" is the recommendation from PLX.

The closer you go the less your O2 will last. There is no problem the farther you go away except more risk of a leak developing. 12" is fine though IMO

i have had the most luck running widebands right after the oil pan. ive ran my car on racegas all season with the same sensor in the exhaust. last year, same wideband, with the sensor up front where it was easy to get to, i went through a ton of sensors.

where you have it now probably isnt too bad, but i'd just run no 02 sensor untill you get to the welder, and have him extend the downpipe and put it after the flex.

actually i'd probably have him do that before you put the downpipe on the car b/c he is going to have to take it back off again anyways....not to mention it will weld much nicer if its clean. while its off he can weld in hte extension, the bung, and do the flange
