O-Ringed head - pros/cons - gasket choices - opinions needed (searched)
Ok. I got my head from trboCIVICWRX. It was ported and polished with upgraded oversized valves, valve springs and an Skunk camgear. The head was also O-ringed.
My question is this. Should i keep the O-rings on my head or have them machined off? I don't really know what they do or how they benefit my setup, but i know that gasket choices are going to be few having them on my head. The guy at Cometic told me that O-ringed heads are for cars that are torn apart every other weekend when a headgasket can be replaced. He also said that I would be replacing them every 6 months, which hardly seems worth having them on there, so thats why i ask.
My current setup for the head is as stated above, the port and polish, upgraded oversized valves and valve springs, Skunk Camgear and a Zex Stage 1 camshaft. This car will also be boosted in the coming months as well. I just have no clue what to do with these o-rings or what kind of gasket would be best or even where to get one. I need one with "fire rings".
Any help would be greatly appreciated.

the o rings will hold the cumbustion inside the chamber better than an ordinary gasket.
depending on what the o rings are made from will be the deciding factor on the headgasket.
keep the o rings.

Welp, got the stock head gasket from honda, and well the o-rings caused it not to seal properly and well, needless to say i had coolant burning from my exhaust and an oil leak from the block itself.
So i really need some serious help. Should i get a Cometic gasket made or just spend the $200 for an hks head gasket?
Opinions would be greatly appreciated.

I have always seen copper o-rings used. The majority of the time the sleeves are the ones with the o-ring groove and not the head. Will steel o-rings even crush the way that the copper o-rings do when used? Could the problem lie beyond these lines?
You have to be very careful when installing the head on the block and have someone watch to make sure the o-rings stay in tact when putting it on the block. You might want to use some copper gasket spray for your new headgasket to promote better sealing as well.

the rings have been imbedded in the head. They are pretty much stationary. My problem lyes with the head gasket not fully crushing due to the o-rings.
My attempt was with a stock honda gasket - D16 engine' see picture 1 for a view of the orings.

with steel o rings, you are supposed to use a copper headgasket.

Speaking of o-rings, I pulled my GE block and had it rebored to 81.5mm for some new pistons. Can I still use the factory headgasket? And where do you guys get the copper?
