Default Not Boosting over 3 lbs

I'm really stumped here. I went to go tune my car today and ran into a few problems. Everything is hooked up perfectly, but for some reason I'm only making 3 lbs of boost. Its not going up and then dropping off to 3 lbs, but going up to 3 lbs and staying there. We cranked up the boost controller, swapped wastegates out, disconnected the wastegate vaccum, etc, and every run only 3 lbs. There are no signs of oil or shaftplay. If any of you have any ideas please chime in. All couplings etc are tight and secure. The setup is a LS motor with XS Engineering TO4X, Hondata s200b, and Precision 1000cc's. Thanks.

Brandon

Sounds like a leak somewhere in the piping.

Whats the stock wastegate set for? Did it ever run more than 3psi?

don't think that's a factor cuz he said he swapped w/g's. like sporkcrx said, check for leaks in the piping, that's a common cause.

There are no leaks in the piping, and even so, the turbo would still produce the boost and drop down right? The wastegate is fine, well assuming so since we ran both mine (Tial 35mm) and a brand new Tial 38mm. We checked over every vacuum line multiple times and checked all the piping as well. As for the wastegate spring, I am runnin a 6.5 lb spring. Kinda weird that it only hits 3 lbs even with the wastegate vacuum disconnected. Thanks for the replies guys

Oh yeah, and no air filter, just running a screen. Air filter wasn't an option unfortunately with the 4" inlet

I'd take off all the piping, then reinstall it all again. Just for the hell of it (and I bet the problem would be fixed then )

are you experiencing any exhaust leaks? i.e. ex. manifold to head, manifold to turbo. are all the bolts in place?

Hehe, been there done that. Everything is bolted on fine, no leaks, etc. As for exhaust, 3" open downpipe so thats not the problem.

could it be the head warped or something... guessing btw. checked the torque on the head bolts/ studs if you have had it apart?

hope you find the problem.

Nope, motor has been compression tested, run N/A without problems, etc. The motor has never been apart either and has low miles

Silverbeast was having the same problem on his ls/vtec only he was stuck at 9 psi. I don't think they have found his problem out yet neither.

Yeah, I just read his 5 page post. I wonder what ever happened with that. Damn us Texans have been having a horrible past boosting week

I've got a problem where I either boost to 7.5 psi, or *literally 0 psi. It's when ever I mess with my MBC. I've had two different ones on there (and installed them both, both ways, so backwards) and they either boost 7.5 or 0 psi. When I take the MBC off altogether and just have a direct line to the wastegate, I get 0 psi. If I put an open "T" in the wastegate line, I get like 2psi. I've got NO clue what the hell the problem is. I've even tried different springs.

What kind of boost controller are you running and which port of the wastegate? As for me, I still have no damn clue. Everything is seeming to check out ok

I doubt its an exhuast leak because It should hit full boost, and then just drop off, I know when I have leaks, it will hit full boost and keep full boost, its jus that it takes longer to reach full boost, and it's an obvious power loss.

I think it's something stupid to ne honest, Brandon are you running a boost controller? The wastegate ring is installed? I would go back and double check everything.

It also seems wierd that it still does it even when you disconnect the vacuum line, wierd

Well I definitely don't think its an exhaust leak cause all I'm running is a 3" downpipe. Manifold is tight, turbo is on good, downpipe secure. But the crazy thing Iggy is that we tried 2 wastegates (one of which being brand new out of box) and 2 different MBC's (one of which we just pulled off of Conor's car) No matter what, constant 3 lbs

LOL, I knew I had forgotten something But in reality I've been helped with my setup by some of my own turbo gods, Chris, Iggy, Felix, Stoney, Philip, Connie, Stan, Art, and the rest of the boys.
