NOOB: on boosting single slammer
so i decided i want a little more power out of my single slammer...i just bought the car which is a 93 ej1 with 178xxx mi on it. so im asking for some input from u guys HELP ME OUT!!!hope top peice together a kit by import alliance.
how does this setup sound: SETUP1
t28 garret ball bearing from the s15 or rb26 with internal wastegate(possibly converted to external waste)
ebay ramhorn
prolly a 2.5 inch dp
2.5 charge pipe
fmic
440cc inj.
and a walbro inline pump using stock in tank or 255 walbro
prolly 3 inch exhaust
tuned on chrome
SETUP2: this might sound ridiculous
garret gt30r ball bearing (can get a pretty good deal..maybe 500 for just the turbo)
and prolly all the same as setup 1 with pipe and etc.
so heres my ? which setup will give me the best powerband and full boost pretty quick..im already thinkin u guys r gonna laugh at me with the 30r but how much bigger of a difference can they really be..like i said noob here on turbo's(kinda) thanks for ur help.
oh yea and everything on a completely stock d16z6 maybe some arps

Re: NOOB: on boosting single slammer
probably should ask budget? probably a daily driver?
the t28 will probably be a very fun turbo, with a nasty powerband. it depends how hungry for power you are. wether or not to use the 30r. dont need an inline fuel pump. just do the walbro 255 intank.

Re: NOOB: on boosting single slammer
As others said, I wouldn't go with the eBay ramhorn. It might look cool, but a lot of people had bad luck with poor welds on them. You can pick up an eBay or used cast log manifold or an HF/STD mani with an adapter plate for cheap and you won't have to deal with the poor welds, and it'll easily get you to the power numbers you're hoping for.
Also, I'm a bit of a turbo noob myself, so I could be wrong on this, but if you have a 2.5" downpipe then it wouldn't make much sense to have a 3" exhaust, because it's only going to flow as well as your most restrictive point (the downpipe).

Stay away from Ebay parts...they have a pretty bad track record. As for the turbo choice, that depends on your goals. If you're running a stock block, there is no reason to get anything larger than that T28...the GT30r, although a bragging point, would not really do much for you.
