i do agree.. why not just do it right the first time.. even if you get a side mounted one.. it would be better than not having one at all.. wow..

Dude you can get intercoolers with piping for well under 200bucks for simple setups.
Man what a cheapass! Its pointless not to have one, unless your a meth built car or this is the 1970s.

its not about being cheap or not. maybe what he wants out of his car, a intercooler isnt neccessary.
or maybe hes planing to run the greddy kit to keep it legal.
greddy kit passes emissions WITHOUT a intercooler.
damn...
noobs these days..

i was thinking about running no intercooled as well just for the fact that i love my yellow fogs on my ej8 and i dont want to have some ridiculous looking holes in my bumper. side mount is not an option b/c i will be keeping ac and ps. so dont just bash him for wanting to see some set ups, there is most likely more to it then him just being cheap.

i suppose. for those of us who dont have race cars that tear up that 1/4 mile and want to focus more on just auto-x and just need a little pep.. non intercooled can work out just fine. you dont HAVE to use an intercooler for a turbod car. im pondering running a t25 on 10 psi on my stock d16y8 for auto-x set up. not everyone enjoys driving their "race cars" with intercoolers good for 700 hp on their 300 hp civic in straight lines for 12 secs. at a time. and not everyone NEEDS an intercooler just because theyre boosted...

Perhaps the question we should be asking is *why* this person doesn't want an intercooler. Perhaps they don't want to have it prominently visible in the front of the car, giving the fact that their car isn't stock away. Perhaps they don't know that used intercoolers are like $100. In any case, I don't think any relevant information could be presented until we know what the *goal* is.
If you don't want to run an intercooler, there are a few other options. You can fabricate or buy a charge cooler, a high-surface area interface on the way to the engine where a 5th injector sprays minute amounts of fuel onto the plate. The vaporization of this fuel removes heat from the intake charge, reducing temperature. Then the fuel just stays in the air until it is burned in the engine. The amount of fuel we are talking about is extremely small so it should have almost no effect on fuel economy.
Lotus used this design on Esprit S4's. Since the charge cooler is tiny, no one would see it with the hood closed.

if you're auto-x/road racing, you'd need an intercooler more than somebody beating their car for 12 sec at a time
really though, i'm in to hear the reason the OP wants to do it. maybe it's a good reason...

Re: Non-Intercooled Turbo Setups - Pic thread
I didn't run one on my first setup. It was fine. IATs were better than a supercharger and it was fun. Sorry no pictures. This was before cameras.
