what is the law about having nitrous in your car in california? i heard that as long as it's mounted properly and not being used(yea right), that it's ok.

 

you are allowed to have it in the car, but you can not have the bottle open and not have it hooked up ready to spray.

 

there actually aren't any laws specifically prohibiting nitrous, so basically it's the same as having any other mod that's in violation of CARB on your car (i.e. custom turbo etc). If the bottle is closed i think you're in the clear though.

Officers discretion if he busts you for it.. but if your caught racing.. rest assured it will be used against you....

nitrous is for racing, not passing slower cars...

 

yup, nitrous is for racing only! this is why you may be able to go free if the bottle is closed and not connected. They can't fine you for transporting nitrous oxide, but if its hooked up then you are definitely screwed.

 

I was pulled over in my Civic with NOS (long time ago) for speeding in LA (San Fernando Valley). The second cop noticed the NOS bottle in the back when he poking around the back of the car with his flashlight. Funny thing is ...he wrote me up for speeding and carrying a "Flammable Substanance"

I went to court and the NOS or Flammable Sub. part of the ticket was trown out....

 

Gotta love dumb cops! We know who saw TFATF...

 

Some states, as long as you have a badge or sticker on your car INFORMING them your carrying it, they wont bust you for transporting it or having it in your car.

some states it's a law to have the outside of the car marked with a sticker/badge telling them.. this way if you have an accident, the nice blue bomb you have in the back, should it get placed into a flame or fire.. they will know there is a gas subject to expansion and if trapped in the bottle.. will cause the bottle to explode..

Yea.. it can't blow up.. but the bottle sure can cause some major damage..
