ok ive been living in california for a couple of months soo i really dont know the laws here...ive been wanting to install a nitrous kit on my teg...is it illegal if my car is my daily driver? probably is illegal if u have the bottle connected...but what if u just have all the connections and no bottle???

i think its not illegal unless theres a bottle and its connected. So if you drive around with the connections and no bottle, its perfectly legal. I think that's what my friend said when he had NOS and a cop pulled him over

 

ok thanks for that....im asking cuz i went to a performance shop too see if they had nitrous kits, and they told me that it was totally illegal to have the kit on my car even without the bottle pluged in...

 

To be honest it all depends on the Cop. They can do what ever the hell they want it makes no diffrence if what you have on your car is legal or not they really dont know they just write a ticket any way. I have herd its legal as long as you have the dump tube or what ever saftey equipment is needed to run the system and I also have herd as long as the bottle is not conected. I even asked a cop about it and he could not even give me a answer.

well and another thing is that if im not street racing theres no reason a cop will pull me over and search my engine bay....i only want the nitrous for the track...but that guy on the shop really scared me lol...he said i could go to jail and my car would be impounded..

 

Just put it this way I pulled into a street cause I saw a cop coming behind me and I parked it in front of some shop hoping he would pass by me. He did and say me, I got pulled from the car ( I was parked) and searched. Go my hood popped and got a ref ticket. His excuse was when we see a car like this with no back seat, guages and 4 point harness we know your going to race. Just put the kit on your car and paint the solenods or hide them so they cant be noticed incase they do pull you over and just conect the bottle at teh track.

Yup he really had no reason since I was parked. I mean i saw him comeing and I new he was going to try to pull me over so I parked it and like 2-5 min later he pulled behind me.

No idea he extended my time on the ticket for a month and I have seen nothing in the mail yet.

Best part of it all there was a car right next to me with some people I know who were white and also in a vw turbo gti or something. They just got ids checked and questioned while still in ther car. I got the full *** hole treatment and asked all kinds of dumb questions about my nos and other crap.
