Nitrous gone bad
His pistons and valves came out his intake and exhaust!!!!

Lets see, you added 75 horsepower worth of extra oxygen and zero extra horsepower worth of fuel? Did you run colder plugs? gapped small? retard ignition timing?
I'm sure the sleeves could have held a lot more power than you were making, It's just the immense heat from running lean that killed your sleeve. I didn't think people actually ran nitrous without some sort of fuel compensation. I guess they do.

Hey That looks like the block thats sitting on the floor of my shop. Oh it is. Wassup dave. Listen, you guys who think this only happens to nitrous cars and thats why nitrous is bad. you gusy need to understand that id the kit is hooked up properly and the proper air and fuel mixtures are there it is the same risk as running turbo. trust me plenty of guys split sleeves with turbo. anyway, my guess is that the car came out of the hole bogged and he hit the switch and loaded the car up with spray w/o any load behind the car. then the tires ripped with an overload of N20 in the engine and the cylinder pressure was just too high to burn and split the sleeve. just guessing here though. anyway, next time run a wet kit. you wont even need a bigger pump for a 75.00 shot on an Si. And yes the block will be resleeved and find a new home in someones car that wants 30psi of boost or a 200 shot.
I put 9 bottles of Zex nitrous though my 89' DX hatchback ( hybrid SI ), it has 155,000 miles on it. I ran eveything from a 55-75 shot on it... What the hell would crack the cylinder like that ? I figured a broken rod/piston from too much knock, but a cranked wall ?? BTW I had stock injectors and fuel pump... Take it B-series guys !! J/K, it saddens me to see it broke b/c I know its gone cost ton to fix.. A D-series guy would laugh all the way to the junk yard, and spend $200 on another one.. I can't imagine something like that happening to my "big money" stealth... Good pics though..
I think the term knock was invented for people like me that couldn't spell detination ( did I spell it right ? )..

My bro has had a zex kit on his lude. He runs a 65 shot and hasnt had any problems. The kit has been on for about a year and a half. With nitrous, it is critical that you know what you are doing. GL on your new setup.
I'm one of NAWWZz's victims too. However, it was my fault for not taking all the precautions for fuel, timing retard, etc. Anyway, I got lucky and picked up a B18A motor (no tranny) in a Newark junkyard for $300.00. It was still in the car so I got to see the mileage. I had fun with the n20, but I opted to go the extra step and just go turbo. Good luck bro
Sorry to be off topic, but Do you think a block guard would of helped? I was a nawz victom as well. But it was just a burnt valve. Sorry to hear about your luck. Everything will work out... The way i see it, now it gives you an excuse to rebuild.
Yikes! that sucks
NOS scares me to many horror stories that I have heard keep me away from it.
I have even seen one moron basically melt his piston and rod down into the crank case with it.
NOS=To Scary For Me

I mod the preludeonline nitrous forum and we have yet to have a person blow a motor from nitrous when they follow the rules. I go to a dyno w/ a WB O2 everytime I change something on my kit that can affect the A/F.
All the people that I personally know who have blown their motors on nitrous, could have easily avoided it, by using their brain a little.
Anything from forgetting to install the nitrous jet, to running a 75+ dry shot on a b16 with sohc injectors
.
Be smart, and you will love nitrous.

CHeck this one out.

What the **** happened there?
DAMM! I've never seen anything as bad as that! I'd love to know wtf happened there...

anyway. my point is, blockguards do wonders. as long as they're installed correctly, you won't have any overheating problems like others have had.
B20B with stock sleeves.

So you sprayed moroso with your coolant
At least you got a new motor already, our SI has been down since November.
Most guys bust their motors by hitting the nitrous at too low of an rpm. Window switches are worth their weight in gold on any nitrous setup.

i think u might have had the injection for the nitrous too cloose to the intake manifold. it looks like u got a very uneven shot of it. i ran a 75shot on my b16a2 for 3 months, couple times spraying a week..no problems.
good luck with the rebuild!
mike
good luck with the rebuild!

dont forget those who install the n20 jet on the fuel side and fuel on the n20 side. not as bad as forgetting to jet it at all though.
I wish I had people to teach me about nitrous.
At least all that switching the jets causes is one hell of a rich condition.
hey laughin, its Mike, one of brians friends from UW-EC, u guys should make a trip back here before school gets out so we can all goto rock falls!
