Default nitrous engine wear & tear

A friend and I were having a debate and I was hoping someone here could settle it. He claims that using a nitrous kit will not increase engine wear (this based off of some advertising literature I believe.. ). However, I've read countless posts on H-T that state the opposite.. that nitrous will quickly wear down piston rings, seals, etc. Can someone clarify this for me? Thanks..
Oh BTW I already did a search

obviously if you have more power you are going to stress the internals more...nuff said

Ok well let me follow this up then. Would nitrous be more or less strenuous on the engine than a turbo/supercharger?

No. They only real problem with the reliablity of nitrous is the increased number of idiots who get their hands on it as opposed to turbos or SCs.

Nitrous tends to be brutal. It spikes the torque curve at low rpms.
Can you say 200 lb/ft at 3500 rpm???
This is just a SOHC motor also!
Also remember this FACT......
unless using a controller ($250) NOS flows at the same rate, not dependate on RPM's.
You get most power boost at lower rpms.
Also usually get faster times using a lower shift point when spraying.

Looks familiar! I got 202TQ on my SOHC non VTEC Accord motor when I still had it.
