Default nitrous dyno sucked

okay my friend has a 96 hatch with a 96 b18c1 and is impressivly pushing out 168 whp with only i/h/e msd and aem FPR. so that was good. he then put a 75 shot zex nitrous kit in and only went up 189whp just wondering why only 20 ponies when 75 shots should be at least 40 or 50. The dyno place says ZEX is weak because it runs off the map sensor. So i am asking do you think we can do something to fix it or would another Nitrous kit be better like nitrous xpress or something.

Get a wet kit. Enjoy 65 HP out of 65 HP jets.

NX, Nitrous Works, or Nitrous Oxide Systems(DO NOT SAY NOS!!!) are your friends.

yea i know so you think my **** *** zex kit was the con in my car huh. thanks but does NX have wide open throttle where it ignites when your peddle is all the way down?? and how much does these kits cost??
what about those kits you enlisted with a dry kit single fogger system??

aem FPR. The dyno place says ZEX is weak because it runs off the map sensor. So i am asking do you think we can do something to fix it

I hope its not hooked to the map sensor, it must be hooked to the tps sensor or I wouldn't know how its even working. Also I heard the AEM fpr is not good with a dry kit because the dry kit puts pressure on the fpr and have heard of hold being ripped in the fpr. Also if the bottle wasn't up to pressure, it wasn't a true reading. The zex needs to be at 900 psi to perform optimal. Get a bottle warmer.

what was the peak torque difference between the 2 pulls?

Ever think the ZEX kit was not installed correctly or the bottle was too cold?

I went from 14.85 to 13.2x with 75 shot from ZEX, 13.09 with 85 shot.

Did I mention this was a SOHC?

i agree,its not the zex,it could be the install,he should check and make sure the nozzle is not facing the wrong direction,double check the jets,make sure he has enough pressure in the tank as well,the tps will have nothing to do with the performance of the zex,it only uses it as a trigger,just like what a micro switch would do on the throttle body.try going over the whole system a good time,are the vacuum lines hooked up correctly?the zex would not harm your fpr,the aem is good up to 80 psi or so,im sure the zex dosnt make it go up that far,it couldnt.

ever seen 100+ psi fuel pressure?

You just might with ZEX and a Walbro 255 LPH HP pump.

I kept blowing the vacuum hoses off the FPR. I had to flare them slightly to help hold the hoses on.

really when i had my zex kit everyone always told me optimal temp was 1100, 1200psi max being too dangerous and 900 minimum but still too low. I was at about 850 all the time and one night i took out the bottle and used a indoors heater (that you plug into the outlet) let the bottle sit in front of it for a while. when i got the bottle back in the car nitrous pressure was at 1100, i took it for a few passes and the thing just ripped. spinned the tires all through 2nd and part of 3rd, this was also on a sohc on 55shot

yeah, but MB you know that kind of change isn't typical.

I agree something is wrong. Most people lose about 1 second from a 75shot. You should have gained a lot more than 20whp.

I pulled a second off my 1/4 time with a ZEX 55 shot. On the dyno my HP went from 123 -> 172 and tq 136 -> 191

at the dyno my torque went 30 up and the pressure was around 8 1/2 so do you think that can really be the case. besydes my line is a little long i wraped under my car then had some extra going int he trunk so it made a spin around the trunk to the bottle. if i shorten it to just from under the car to the bottle would that help alot. yea i will buy a bottle warmer. and my bad i guess i was talking about the TPS sensor otherwise how would it work. and it should be working fine because i am purging right.

i have 12 degree timing and BKR7E spark plugs and my FPR is 58 i dunno i kinda want to give up on the kit but everyone says how good it is. i will get the bottle wrmer for the last try.

do you have the lines from the purple box correctly hooked up? Many get the lines backwards. In the early instructions, a picture showed one way while the direction said another. I quick called to ZEX cured that.

Joey Copeland saved the day.

BTW this was when a Autometer A/F meter saved my ***. As soon as I would spray it would go RED. I knew something was wrong so I stopped. I still used the A/F gauge.

Green = GO!
Yellow = melting spark plugs
Red = melting pistons

Joey's a pretty cool cat. He's helpful when he feels like it and pretty much knows his **** about nitrous.

He's the owner of the white kitt'ed Del Sol on Zex's webpage.

the line could go around the car 3 times and still wont matter at 1000psi, unless its pinched somewhere

LOL nothing wrong with saying NOS as long as you are talking about Nitrous Oxide Systems the company rather than nitrous in general

I went from a 16.8 to 14.9 with only a 50hp NX kit. This is at 5800ft elevation and a h22a accord. 75hp sucked *** because i couldnt hookup.

ZEX

any nitrous when installed incorrectly and someone bashing it and saying it sucks when they have no experience

i haven't had mine dyno'ed yet, but with my b16 swap and the 55 shot...it will squeal the tires pretty good almost through 3rd (provided the clutch is still nice and cool )
