Default Nitrous and boost- how much timing?

Asking for a friend of mine--

How much total timing for a 50-75 wet shot on a B16 (built) currently running about 14psi?

Currently, I think timing is around 20deg on pump running 8.6:1 compression.

Wondering how much timing would be safe on pump (91 oct) and C16.

thanks

Detonation is the result of too little fuel present during combustion (lean) or too low of an octane of fuel. Too much ignition advance also causes detonation. In general, most of the kits work on stock type engines well with premium type fuels and minimal decreases of ignition timing. In racing application where higher compression ratios are used, resulting in higher cylinder pressures, a higher fuel octane must be used as well as more ignition retard.

Typically with the nitrous kits (with premium fuel used) you do not need to retard timing until you hit the 100 hp shot. At that point it usually starts at about 2 degrees for 100 hp. You will have to look at your total timing in the EMS for that cell of boost, and decide form that point.

With the correct plugs, fuel, and tuning, that 50 shot will probably cause more of a concern to remember to activate down the track then anything else.

Use an RPM switch.

Never physically activate a system on and off, youre asking for trouble.
