Nipple on turbo how to for electronic boost controller??
Ok i've got everything ready to install my AVCR 1st thing in the morning.. The only question i have is i suppose to hookup to a nipple on my turbo.. I've never seen the nipple on my turbo when i've had it off.. Someone told me you gotta drill and install a fitting.. If so where and how?? what size fitting etc??.. And do i need to pull off the turbo to drill??
the turbo is a garrett t3/t4 60 trim

If there is no nipple on the turbo, you should just be able to run a vac. line to it connected to a vac. source(vac. manifold for example) to the wastegate. Should be vacuum source-boost controller-top port on wastegate..if im not mistaken.
drill a 21/64ths hole and tap it with 1/8 npt. done.
i dont agree with the vac source on the manifold. it is my personal preference, i have been doing that that way since 96 when i was messing with buicks.
if you arent comfortable drilling a turbo, lord knows i didnt want to drill my new t3t67ho snail, but it needed to be done, you can catch it off of the manifold.

So you don't have to drill the turbo??
what are the benifits off drilling and not drilling??
does it need to be removed for drilling??
and where exactly am i drilling??

right where you put the coupler for the turbo discharge. drill and tap it there.
the advantage of putting it there, is faster response, I THINK it is more accurate there, but thats my oppinion.
putting on the manifold will give you a more true reading on the wastegate.
i.e. with the line off of the manifold, the wastegate setting is more correct.
with it off of the compressor likei have it, it tends to run 2 psi higher. because of the pressure drop across all the plumbing.
