Default New wastegate question

I have gotten a new tial wastegate.

it has ports for vaccum and water do I need to use these or can I cap these off? also there wasnt enough caps or plugs to seal all the holes. Will they leak pressure?

You must have the mvs. Yes you should hook up the water lines to the wastegate body.

I'm curious - why does a wastegate need cooling?

I believe the wastegate cooling is for race applications where the diaphram can melt. I have been running mine without the cooling ports hooked up as a DD for several years with no issues.

Ah yes, you're showing the MV-SA (A= AIR) version that was released. The definitive signs are the cooling fins that are between the valve body (exhaust port) and the upper body where the diaphragm is placed. It was TiAL's answer to those that didn't run the water lines for higher endurance racing such as HPDE and Time Attack events.

Holy ********. Maybe if I had thought about the wastegate as an extension of the exhaust, I would have realized that it totally makes sense.

Yeah yeah. We also all have our specialties. I (evidently) know too much about fueling and wiring for my own good but hey, that's the beauty of a forum - put all of our minds together, and we could build the most badass "perfect" setup known to man!

Side note: My inbox is suspiciously empty...

I'll be pm'ing you shortly lol

if you have the mvs it really needs the water lines hooked up given the compact design of the gate... given the tops proximity to the valve body, especially if the car is driven hard.

Only picture of my waterlines hooked up. I used the old lines that were used for the turbocharger (Throttle body and water coolant pipe), I went from -6AN to -4AN.

Then I used a B&R fittings coolant waterline kit to supply water to the turbocharger by the block plug adapter.
