ok,
so my dataloggin cable took a ****, so i needed to solder in a new one,
only problem is they stop sellin the cable i originally used.
i looked on the uberdata forums and found a link to a site with pinouts for alot of different cell phone cables (click here for the pinout page)
so i headed to my local Radioshack to see what kinda cables they had.
they had 3 cables, only 2 that were usable (the other being a Kyocera slider cable)i chose the nokia cable:
this is what i bought:
Model: 17-762
Catalog #: 17-762
Data Cable with USB/Serial for NokiaŽ Phones
http://www.radioshack.com/prod...05&cp
$22.99

once i got it back home, we looked it up on the site..
the pinout site was wrong
, so myself and servion decided to make it work.
after sitting outside and testing wires,
this is what we figured out:
USB cable side ------> ECU side
green and shield soldered together = ground (pin 1 on the ecu)
orange = Tx (pin 2 on the ecu)
white = Rx (pin 4 on ecu)
here is what it looked like after the solder:

the other colors you see it the last half of the connector (the plugs into the ecu)
here is a larger view:

i drilled a hole in the ecu, and added a rubber grommet.
here is the finished product:

i use the cable to datalog neptune, but im sure that it can be used for other managements
hopefully this will help others that have a cable go bad.
sorry the pictures suck i had to use my camera phone
i am living in a hotel in the process of moving so this was all i had (and i still decided to do a mini write up
) so please dont complain
if there are any questions, myself or servion will try to answer them
special thanks to servion for all the help

It was $10 because it was discontinued, so it was a good solution. The other kits out there a good as well; the benefit to this one is that you can go down to your local radio shack and buy it today

But it appears Craig's site is down. I'm surprised more people don't make them and sell them as well. The problem is you still have to solder it to the CN2 pins even with a pre-made cable.

I assume the pre-made cable is the HULOG.
Eh, $22 vs $35.
Soldering into my ECU doesn't bother me at all. It did at first, but I had to do it to get the ECU ready for Uber, so I'm sure I can handle 4 more wires.

plus the people at radio shack said they would be carrying this one for a long time (since it is used for ~12 different phones).
so the write up will be good in a year, unlike the last one
jeremy- where did you get the "quick dissconnect" piece that you soldered in?
ive only gotten 234125 pms about it

The moates kit comes with the 4-pin piece to solder into the board. I got a little stash of the 4-pin wire leads from another customer here in town that does alarm installs... I'll try to get a bunch if anyone's interested
