Default New Nitrous Times......(suggestions)

Setup: '97 GSR, CTR cams, ZEX 55 dry shot Nitrous, V-afc (untuned, Vtec at 5.2K), ITR cat-back, custom CAI extension on stock intake arm, street tires, 100 degree south texas weather.

60': 2.32
330': 6.1516
1/8: 9.3122
1/8mph:78.63
1000': 12.02
1/4et: 14.32
1/4mph 98.36

Does that sound about right to you? I got MASSIVE wheel hop in 1st, so I usually didn't spray in 1st, or when I did it'd only be at the top of the gear. My tipical 60' for the past week has been 2.4 (YUK) which sucks. My Kumho's are only 1 week old, so they are kind of greasy. I could hit 2.3's and 2.28's on my old dunlops. My time NA was 14.8@94-95, but that was in febuary when it was about 40 degrees cooler (SA is Humid as hell). I know If I could hook up enough to spray in 1st I could pull 13.9's, but the 98 mph seems low. Any suggestions. BTW, just to be safe, mt fule pressure is at 50 psi with the hose on, and my V-afc is adding about 2% more fuel after 6K. I just want to be good with the 55 shot and leave it at that (I'm not Nitrous crazy; IE I don't want it to be a crutch).
TIA, -C

Whats up C, I got a little advice for you. Try this. Set your FPR to about 58 - 60 with the hose off. From 5,000 - 9,000 increase your fuel deliver on vafc by a couple of percent, like 2-3 just to be safe in the hi setting. Now another important thing is this. If you can spray in first gear and take off hard DO IT. If you can't, then spray in the begining of second. Another thing to remember is this. The reson I think you mph is low is because you dont' have the proper bottle pressure. Get a good pressure gauge for the nos bottle and warm it up with a warmer or the heater in your car till it reaches proper pressures. You need to call zex to find out what they recommend. Using 100 octane or octane booster helps nos cars a lot. I know plenty of people doing over 100 mph traps with a 50 - 55 shot. Set your timing to stock, no need to retard it on a small shot like that.

i had 100 mph trap speeds with my 55 shot zex. I only had intake, header, exhaust. Get the zex bottle warmer!!!! Trust me... it helps alot when the bottle is warm.

where do you live though? It's 90+ degrees at 10:00 pm here! I don't want to invest too much money in the Nitrous stuff because I plan to go turbo soon (Drag). I may get a bottle gauge, but I don't want to pay $200 for a bottle warmer. I'll have to find another way to do it. Yeah, I think the Kumho's kinda suck as far as grip is concerned: when I take a corner I can feel my rear end start to get squirely. Still, they aren't bad for $61 a piece. -C

when ur shootin nitrous the temp doesn't matter. It's actually good shootin nitrous in the summer rather than the winter. If you shoot it in the winter your could cause cylinder expasion.

GSRacer and me are both from Dirty Jerzy and his car was tunned by both of us.
Try to find a used bottle warmer, and if not you still need the gauge either way.

Actually, no matter the setup the cooler the air, the more dense it is, increasing the ability to burn more fuel which makes more power. I know it isn't going to make as big a difference as with NA, but it would help (even if just a tenth and 1 mph). Thanks for the input guys. -C

Ive got some advice for you. Hook up a 450 HP Jet and your times will improve dramatically. If you make it to the end of the track that is.

how far from the throttle body is the nitrous entering your intake? I forgot to look...

do you have cam gears? those could help you out A LOT...

I don't think a bottle warmer would help because its hot enough as it is I'm sure...but a pressure guage would sure be helpful.

and the tires...well, i'm not gonna say anything about that..

LOL, 01GSR
I have it about 4-5 enches from the TB. I've heard of the 12" rule, but there is a HUGE BEND on the gsr intake (stock or aftermarket) about 6" down the intake, so I didn't want to have to nitrous go through all those bends before it gets to the TB. I had cam gears, but I sold them to get my ITR exhaust.

When I get some Drag radials, I'll put them at around 12-15 psi like the others, because at 24 psi, I ran just about the same times as on my street tires (not to mention I had crazy wheel hop). -C

actually I was reading a nitrous tuning guide and it said that on most honda/acuras if you put the nitrous into the intake about 3 feet from the throttle body that was optimum...it said it cooled the intake air from 120 to 60 degrees....not too shabby...just thought I'd share some of my knowledge that I don't have...

Look I don't want to come off as a ***** but if you call NOS directly they will tell you that the fan spray nozzle should be roughly 6 - 8 inches from the throttle body for optimul performance. If you are placing the nozzle 3 feet from the throttle body you are loosing performance which is just straight stupid, as for you only dropping a 1/2 a second with a 55 shot there is something wrong with your setup. I would normally see at least 1.25 - 2 full second drop in my times with a 50 shot. To get rid of your wheel hop in 1st drop your tire pressure down to 20 psi and scratch your kumos to clean them off before you stage. They should hook up clean if you launch right. Let me know if you drop any better times.
