New to Hondata S200b, need help from those using it!
The Hondata.com forum moves extremely slow so i'm trying here. Just got tuned using S200b w/ 2-step etc. The tuner used RomEditor V4 which apparently doesnt allow the pushbutton to be used to set your 2-step, full throttle shift, and check engine shift light. You have to set it through the program. Am i able to have the romeditor program to use and change my rpm features myself?? The tuner mentioned to go to hondata.com and download it but there is talk about licensing and such on there. I'm not sure what i need, or if i can even have it for personal use. Any help is appreciated.

UPDATE** Well i got Romeditor 4 installed, apparently was having a computer problem where the anti-virus wouldnt let Hondata install. Do i need a special USB to Serial cable for this to work?? I have one that i found, but the computer doesnt recognize the hondata box at all. Nothing shows up when the key is turned.

I believe Romeditor 4 requires use of Hondatas cable. It has a security feature built into the cable (kind of like the blue box) that the software needs to see.

ahh, i see. I found a link to buy this from the Hondata website. So when i get this cable and connect, i should be able to change my rpm features without changing or messing anything else up correct? I also see you can get the Keyspan for any type of use, wouldnt something like this from Circuit City work: http://www.circuitcity.com/ssm...il.do . I'm only asking because i can go pick this up around the corner from my house.

No, only KeySpan's work on stage units. I know because I bought ones from BestBuy, Circuit City, Wal-Mart, etc and none of them would work. But Keyspan... it works and hondata will verify that as well.

Rom Editor Version 4 has a built in encryption device in the USB dongle, you CANNOT use any other USB cable except the one they send you
rom editor version 4 IS downloadable but do you really think a multi-million dollar company such as hondata will give anything away for free, not a chance
also to the original poster, if you are not familiar with hondata tuning, i dont suggest you try it on your own.

For some reason I thought he said he was running a Stage 4 unit... which in case you would need the KeySpan. I was not aware that the REV4 had a built in encryption.... thanks for correcting me

Yup, with Rom Editor 4 the program is useless w/o the hondata cable. You can't even save anything w/o the cable plugged in. If your tuner setup things that can only be set with the rom editor 4 software, then you're going to have to ask you tuner to adjust those things for you. You can not download the software for free and make those changes.

Go back to your tuner, made sure they download the newest version of Romeditor 4 and have them reburn your chip usign that version. Your push button should work for setting the 3-step options.

As long as you have a eeprom that was burned with RE4 version 1.0.7.0 or newer and you have datalogging enabled on your s200, then you can datalog via a regular serial cable but cannot make any changes to the tuning. With a calibraion loaded you can datalog and make changes to the launch control and full throttle shift it is enabled on your s200.
