New EMS Forum???
I personally dont think its a good idea. Just like a bunch of other stuff can be on the internet...it can be the blind leading the blind. Tunning is not like makeing a mistake on forgeting to tighten a clamp...it can create major harm to multiple parts. Most people I know who are really good tuners, they get paid to tune and solve the problems that arise. For the most part, these type of people will not sit there and answer questions because they need to make a living. I have checked out other sites like esp. ones about subaru...and thats kinda how their ems board was. Thats how I feel and everyone might dissagree.
Sorry for the tone but that post doesnt seem to be in the spirit of this forum.
I spend one hour putting my turbo in and 10 hours tuning my ECU. I spend way more time doing ECU related tuning and a forum to bounce ideas off other users and share maps would be great.
I don't think the idea of the forum is to get the "best" map possible because no matter what you shoud goto a dyno for that. Trouble shooting, learning how the system works, and some theories to getting it to drive normal/idle normal would be very helpful. Obviously there are different skill levels in this world on EVERYTHING. I'm sure most of you haven't lost business through the WWW, heck most of you probally gained it*. Everyone does make a living yes but, knowledge should always be free (imo) and I doubt the people that would of came to your shops would stop going there just because they think they can just tune with your ideas....
In the same respect most of you guys help out people who build their motors on the forum, basically giving information on what works, what doesn't, etc. Even with ALL of this knowledge I doubt I'd ever attempt to build my own motor, however, with the information that you guys gave us I now know what is quality and what is not.
No hate, just personal opionions.
*I'm not meaning sales either because obviously the retail business side of things have and always will be competitive. I was reffering to things you guys actually make/work on, things that seperate you from the rest of your competition.

Great idea
AEM's BB moves slooow, I go here to get most of my answers already. I see FalconGSR over there and a few other HT names I recognize, there is definitely a demand for one here.

Put it like this. If your willing to sacrifice motors until you get the hang of it, thats fine. Putting a tune up is like nothing other when it comes to building a car. Bolting parts together is fine. I cant tell you the contless formlas there are when tuning. I have seen so many tuneups from well known tuners that are less then disirable. Im all about people learning how to do stuff on there own, but what im still stating is that most people who will have enough knowledge to teach someone to tune will not be posting on here cause its their living. There are sooooo many aspects, more then just adding some numbers. I have tought people to install clutches or put on turbo kits. I show them once and they can do it them selfs fine the second time. Tuneing just isnt like this. Its not just bolting parts together. Like Tony said, I am all for learning...reading books. Just make sure what you are learning is solid info, not just stuff that works for someone cause it might not work for you and might blow a motor. Does anyone want to spend 5000 building a motor and then enter in some numbers that someone else used or formulas that might work? I doubt that...thats a super expensive learning curve.
well, I personaly think it's a great idea philo...if someone comes up with something useful for tuning, i'm all for it.
let people make their own decisions whether or not to use the info in the post.
It's that simple.

I still disagree, I taught myself Hondata and AEMs systems and havent ever done a hint of damage to anyones motor. And it wasnt doing ***** tunes either.
On the other hand one of AEMs main dealer in Houston (mention no names) has blown countless motors.
If someone has the willingness to learn a turbo or SC install they have the ability to learn to tune an ECU. The AEM is more complex for sure but its hard to go wrong with a Hondata.
Any online forum has a BS factor, some like this have a lower one, others like clubsi have a higher one. By no means should someone take someone elses map and go straight to the track with it. By the same token you shouldnt run the same turbo and boost pressure as a top racer.
If someone cant work out the difference between the two they probably cant read either so they will be fine.

i think it would be an awesome idea, where i live there are no people anymore that can tune any type of standalone and since my future plans are to get either a hondata or AEM when i turbo my car within the next few months i need to learn somehow, i know that the people on this site have more than enough knowledge to give people pointers on tuning, and i know it would help me out A LOT!
