New dyno numbers B16a
Had my g/fs turbo civic tuned on Sat at TDC Performance in Mobile Al. Just wanted to let everyone know how it did.
B16a2 block
Dart sleeves
82mm Wiseco Pistons
Eagle Rods
Stock B16 head with ITR cams
Blueridge T4 top mount
6162 JB T4 .58 ar
This is the graph of the last pull. It blew the hg on this pull and was spinning on the dyno. It was on 20 psi.

Re: New dyno numbers B16a
I've got a stock b16a2 swap in my 96 hatch. Unfortunately the motor/trans has 140k on it. I don't even want to think how much money it'd take to get a similar setup as yours. Shoot I'll be happy if I can even run a turbo on my motor lol. I'm shooting for 275whp on the stock block with itr cams, springs, retainers,im, and tb. At least I know my motor has some serious potential!

Was it a OEM Gasket. Hopefully that is the issue. It blew on the dyno during a high boost pull? MAybe the head lifted slightly and blew the gasket? did you ever re torque the studs and what were the tq'd too? arps?

Re: New dyno numbers B16a
It was a GE hg and my tuner/enigne builder told me a way to do the studs without having to re torque them. They were at 85 ftlbs. When I bought the block it had like 50 miles on it. I took it to the machine shop and they said it was flat. So my tuner is going to take the bottom end apart and have the block decked and head milled and hes going to put it back together.
Car does not have a meth. That was on straight 93 pump gas. Im sure it the hg wouldnt have blown and the tires didnt spin it would have been over 500. Ill thinking about throwing some springs and retainers in the head. The pull before this the power was still going up at a 45 degree angle at 8400 rpms.

Torque them to 5 ftlbs less them what arp says. Let them sit 12 hours the loosen the all up to less the hand tight. Let sit for one hour then retorque them to what arp says.

Re: New dyno numbers B16a
this is new on me because all the guys i know making power with more than 35psi of boost drop the bolts in to hand tight, and torques in increments like
25ftlbs
50ftlbs
70ftlbs
85ftlbs
heat cycle to flush the motor, and change the oil then check torque again

Re: New dyno numbers B16a
i know some people make crazy power on 93 pump but i dont think pushing the envelope is worth it. i made 475/326 but i switched over to vp c12 at 450hp. what was the total timing, plug heat range and gap, afr etc at the time the hg blew out? the motor/build sounds real solid and should be able to handle that power with minimal issues

Re: New dyno numbers B16a
I think total timing was only like 15 degrees. But I can check my computer. The afrs were 11.8-12.0. The car wont see high boost every often and the plugs were gapped to .026
Yea total timing was 15.5 at around 7300 when the tires started to spin. Boost was 21.86 and the afrs on the datalog was around 12.4

i do the 25-50-80 sequence in 3 steps. never lost a headgasket this way. i took it apart to check the tq on the headstuds once and it was still at 80 so i put it back together.

timing seems pretty reasonable, afr seems a bit lean for being on the high limit of pump gas. on my pump im at 11.3-11.8. on the leaded c12 i ran my afr at 12.4. its also possible the plug gap was a tad big and it spark knocked..it wouldnt take much to lift the head or blow the gasket at those levels if anything is slightly out of spec

Re: New dyno numbers B16a
When I built the motor I got it as a short block. The machine shop said it was flat so I used it. Then I had a problem with the head lifting after about 2 years so I pulled the motor out. Once again the machine shop said the block and head was flat and fine to use. So this time around my tuner is going to pull the block apart and have it step decked and also have the head done. Then were going to use a new set of head studs and a ge head gasket.
