Default New build, engine break in question regarding exhuast.

I have searched but couldn't really find what im about to ask. So now that I have come to that point of getting ready to actually drive the car and put 500 or so on it I have a question. Right now I have the turbo manifold with the turbo installed and I obviously don't want boost, so is it better to run the wastegate without any spring in it so there shouldn't be any boost, this way I can leave eveything on or is it better to just take it all off and buy a cheap header and catback system?

If it’s not tuned yet, go get it tuned. Then you don’t have to worry about this.

If you want to not build boost to get it to the dyno, you can remove the pipe going to the tb, however it’s pretty easy to drive the car normally and not build boost

Some people does a hard break in on the engine. What i would suggest is, drive around town normally out of boost to put miles on it. Loading the engine on decel only. By braking the car from downshifting. But to actually break the engine in hard on a dyno!

No to running the wastegate with no spring. No to trying to "baby" the car to for break in mileage. Get it tuned and broken in on the dyno.

Engine braking as mentioned is great to do during this time as it introduces vacuum into the cylinders and helps the rings seat.
