Default new build, before starting

Hopefully will get my h22 block back from sleeving and complete build soon.
Are there any prereqs that are required before bolting on the head and first startup?, As far as the rings and cylinder walls on first startup? Thanks in advance.

In the mean time I will keep searching for build tips.

Can you elaborate on your question? If your getting your shortblock back from machining, it will be cleaned and trued. get a new head gasket, and bolts, and put it back together. break in the engine (how ever the machinist told you to)

Well I understand that it was a rather general question. I have never put an engine back together with brand new parts. It kinda sounds silly but, Is there any lube or anything to put on the cylinder walls or camshafts before first startup? I will be using the Helms manual for EVERYTHING besides all the work that has been done as far as bearings, rods, rings, valves. You're right this should probably be directed more at my builder/machinist. Thanks again!
