Thank god, Could someone please elaborate on an answer to this question. What does the commercial version of Neptune offer that hasn't been developed before in countless freeware and commercial pieces of software. Personally I dont see the point of paying for a program full of great user-definable variables like launch control and rev limitting if the user can not edit them without the assitance of a select few amount of tuners.

Well, at the moment I'm currently offering neptune for $500 including tuning on dynapak. partial throttle will also be optimized.
In a previous reply the long list of features are stated.
Even when you compare it to freeware that deal is hard to beat. After all with freeware, you still need a romulator, pocket programmer, dyno time, wide band, ect... Also, most importantly, you need to know what you are actually doing.
I've tuned 10 and 11 sec sfwd street cars, a 400+ whp time attack Lancer EVO, road race all motor cars, numerous 220-230 whp stock k20a's on Kpro. And I have been trained by MoTeC on data acquisition and engine tuning.
What your spending money on is my experience. The shop I work at is full featured as we have all sorts of fabrication equipment and spare parts. If you have any problems on the dyno we can take care of it.

The features are described at length in the previous pages as well as on HR's website. There was also a whole thread with a few dozen pages of the others vs. Neptune and all issues were covered from every angle.
The bottom line is your car will be better tuned with Neptune, period.

I like the idea of cheaper better but how about the ability to change your own settings. If you have to see the tuner everytime you want to add something new it can add up and lets be honest when are our creations complete never....
I am preatty sold on the idea but maybe you can sell me on the idea more if you would compare it to an AEM set-up, and not the old version software either. IM not ******* this system in anyway and believe that it is preatty ingenious actually but the thing is visiting my tuner everytime i add something and want to change something can add up very quickly over time or if im at the track and need to change the curve a little for a little more of the secret sauce not to metion the tuners avability to tune when i am ready to tune(i.e money)
Personally I like the comparison between hondata and neptune its hands down neptune but AEM vs Neptune??
Again, before I get bashed which alot of people seem to do around here IM not ******* the NEPTUNE system

A lot of very advanced setup features in the tuning application itself to help tuners do their jobs quicker and easier AND many advanced features in the rom as well to do many things other freeware and even commercial solutions cannot do... Simply put again, this system is for people who want their car tuned at a better price by someone who's actually experienced... If you want to be able to change things yourself this is simply not for you...
NepTune is by far easier to tune and setup than an AEM box... and has a lot of the features AEM has to offer... It will soon have some AEM doesn't have to offer as well...

How many people actually need to make changes once they are tuned?
99.9% dont...and Neptune has IAT correction so there's no need for a winter re-tune. This software isn't for people who think they know what they are doing and want to go ******* with maps that are already good.
Neptune = Hondata on Steroids.

yea, i been tuning dan's cars for awhile now. no more renting people's dyno!
personally, I am taking out my M800 MoTeC out of my SFWD civic and changing to Neptune. That is how much I trust Neptune.

Main difference between AEM and Neptune-->
AEM=Almost Engine Management
Neptune=IS Engine Management aka Mini-Motec!

Now that has me ******* sold If you are willing to do that then Im going for it. Hope my tuner can support my need in the next year or however its going to take to get the car ready thank you very much.
Superdave:: Calm down, we came here to learn and I see nothing wrong with someone wanting and willing to take the time to learn systems (management systems) and how things work in relation to air fuel volumetric efficiency plus many others and real time versus dyno time.

Do it dude!! Do it!
Seriously its just like James said, if you want it done right and you don't trust yourself with the tuning, Neptune is for you 100%. If you want to mess around with the tune, its not for you. I'm very happy with it, a year ago I was getting the parts for my turbo and my engine and it was all easy, but in the back of my mind engine management and tuning was always making me uneasy. In AZ we don't have big import shops that specialize in tuning. There was even a time when I thought about going to Cali to have my car tuned, but then suddenly there is James and Neptune, everyone who I talked to stood behind him and he was 15mins away from my house, and it was cheaper than Hondata, and there was no wiring to do. It was heaven sent, huge boulder of my shoulders, now my car is on jack stands because my stock CX brakes can't stop the car its just too damn fast, my front rotors are covered with hot spots, I almost rearended someone twice alredy.

Hondata is such a rip. Their customer service sucks. If I was going to tune my own car, there's no way I'd use Hondata. You have to pay for each individual thing that's already unlocked with AEM. It would be fun to try Uberdata if I wouldn't be tuning my daily driver. Almost free is still good. However, I don't tune my car, so I bought the Hondata + all the other crap you need with it. At the time, I read about people selling their AEMs for Hondata because not very many could tune it. Now their software seems to have been improved, while Hondata has all but given up on the B series engines.
I'm keeping an open mind about Neptune. The 2 main things that most appeal to me are traction control, and IAT correction (something I thought Hondata had
). Plus, $500 for Neptune+tuning=EXTREMELY cheap!
I'd really like to hear from people who have Neptune, and what your experiences with the traction control has been like. How well has it worked for you?

I think the only real way to sum this up goes like this..
Name the 5 biggest tuners on the board. The ones with the biggest/best repuatations. Every single one of them is in THIS thread saying "Neptune is better than Hondata for many reasons"...
Trust them. They dont have a huge rep, the best numbers and the most customers for nothing. If all the big dogs say its the best - believe them. Its not hype - Neptune is the real deal..
if your a newbie asking newbie questions - go to the uberdata forum. Neptune is legit and the EMS of choice for Honda in 2005-??
