Default NEEDD YOUR OPINION> SLEEVE DAMAGE

i've only got 700miles on my build h22 engine

Anyways, i overheated the engine while i was racing on the highway. The car was blowing white smoke out the tailpipe, which is one of many signs that i blew a headgasket. Anyways, the problem ended being a warped headgasket.

When i took off the head, i realized that cylinder #4 had several vertical polished lines on the cylinder wall. What the F#*k? NOw, the cylinder wall is still as sMOOTH as it was

when it came from DARTON. NOOO scratches at all, but still scares me.

WHAT could have caused this?? IM thinking improper clearance

-Incorrect piston to wall clearance

-Incorrect ring-end gap

-Poor Tuning

It is possible that when the headgasket blew coolant entered the cylinder walls thus leaning your a/f's which in turn melted your pistons thus coming in contact with the cylinder walls. How do the pistons look on the intake sides?

Take your fingernail and scratch the cylinder walls perpendicular to the vertical scratches. If your fingernail catches it, you'll be needing a rehone at the least. If it is just a 'line' it is due to the position of the rings and the position that they seated in.

Warped Head/block... not headgasket.

Also, did you use ARP studs?

I've done the nail TEST and the wall is still supersmooth. The pistons look perfect, still.
And yes, I am using Arp HEadstuds.

im thinking that cylinder #4 was overbored by the smallest of margins, but small enough
to cause this lines
