Need Traction: Help with rim selection.
After I install my drag 3 kit, I am figuring my 14" hx rims with 185 tires may pose a slight traction problem. I have had my stock b16 break traction for a very slight moment in first this last summer.
I am looking for a cheap, light rim, with a good width for wide tires. Turbo isn't much good without traction! This is for the occasional stop light race.
I am thinking about Kosei Racing 16x7.5's or the 15x7's. Tire rack price of something like $139 per rim. I would like some SSR competition, but those cost big bucks.
I am leaning toward the 16's because I want to also upgrade to a wilwood big brake kit up front(money permitting). Plus I should be able to run a 205 tire.
Any imput on the idea "there are no good 16 inch tires" would also be appreciated.
The main question is....will the 16x7.5's rub stock height?
Oh, the guys in Competition didn't like this post too much, it involved an illigeal activity.
THANKS!!

This is for the occasional stop light race.
Anyone with a turbo understands this implicitly, and anyone in the Competition forum is bound to jump all over you for it
You could also get some 16" rotas, they're cheap and good quality.
If you get 16x7.5s with the right offset (42mm-45mm) you should have no problems. what size tires are you planning on geting? what KIND of tires are you getting? that's even more important for your "slight traction problem"

I would like to know the answer to this question as well. I have Wilwood brakes and am limited to what wheel will fit over the calipers. I believe the SSR Competions fit. Does anyone know if ANY other 16"s will fit or maybe a 15" wheel?
TIA

just dont get 17s... i got em and i get wheel hop like a muthafucka! and the ride is a bit harsh at bumps and ****. 16s will do just fine. no fender rubbin if you get the right offset. the guy sellin you the rims should be doing their job and not to give you the wrong offset anyway.
