Need personal opinion on this setup
I have a B18a1. The guy building my motor is putting eagle rods from a gsr, and a micropolished gsr crank in it, as well as 8.8to1 compression wiseco forged pistons, and boring it .20 over making it 81.5 mm. I was just wondering if having the gsr rods and crank will make any difference in power, or revving or anything.

what happened to the gsr motor that the rods and crank are from? imo... the gsr block would be a better choice due to the fact it has a girdle from the factory. Even better if you have a ls crank and aftermarket ls rods in it. (real ls/vtec)
But if you only have the ls block than the gsr rods and crank should be just fine for revving. What do you plan on revving it to? I would recomend getting arp mains if you could and you could handle 8-9k just fine.

i have no clue were the gsr motor the crank came out of is, yes ur right, i would of loved to had the true lsvtec setup. All i have is an ls block wit eagle hbeams for the gsr and wiseco turbo pistons. im using a cometic head gasket and all honda oem gaskets, the motor will be bored .20 over.
i understand that i could revv 8-9 wit the arp mains, but what about the stock ls valvesprings, would i experience float, im scared for the spring to pop, thats what killed my last motor, spring popped, brand new type r pistonns slammed into the valve, cracked the block etc

whoa whoa whoa.... my bad... i guess i misunderstood the fact that you are running an ls head. I wouldn't try taking that past 7500 without upgrading your springs and retainers.

I wouldnt go past 7200 with boost, 7500 you can get valve float, stock LS springs are super weak. Just pick up a set of duals/retainers, there really not all that much and cheap to have installed if you cant do it your self. I run crower duals and rev my ls to 8500 all the time, plan on going higher just having ignition issues at the moment
