Default Need Some Advice

So I pulled the oil pan off today and I noticed metal shavings in the pan, Some would stick to a magnet some wouldn't. Im not sure where it came from, Oil pump, bearings or maybe I just didnt clean it good enough after drilling and welding the fitting on for the Return line either way I think its time to move on to a new block.

This guy on H-T said he has a Gsr block that he'll sell me for 175.00 but it has a cracked piston from a valve dropping into cyl 3.

My question to this is: Can I use my B16 P30's on a P72 Crank Rods? Pro's and Con's

As of now I whiped the pan clean, Cleaned the pick up and put it all back together.

It dosent make and noises but I do have an oil pressure problem. Some reason when the car is at running temp the oil light comes on. Now i was told to install a Manual oil pressure gauge to see if maybe I had a bad sensor or something but the manual gauge concurs with the light. At running temp Im only at about 7-10 psi but when its cold Im about 70 psi. when in driving conditions the oil pressure is normal also. just when its ideling is there a pressure drop. Now this too leads me to belive I either have a bad oil pump or spun a bearing.

Update: *****

I dropped the pan today to check the bearings and didn't see anymore metal shavings, Also all the bearing looked good.... Im thinking this is an oil pump issue.

I swapped oil from 10w30 to 20w50 and my oil pressue problem has seem to go away for now, Another thing leading me to the oil pump.

me personally if you are goin as far as to put stock pistons on stock rods you are wasting your time. especially when you are dealing with pressed pins.

if it is out and apart, spend the little extra on a set of good stuff.

do it once.
