Default Need a Quick Spooling Turbo

Need a small, quick spooling turbo that my motor won't outflow.

motor setup is a bone stock b17, looking a for smaller turbo so I can retain A/C (have a DA chassis and everyone knows they have no ROOM)
I have everything else, just need a turbo. I've had previous experience with Precision's had one take a **** on me after only 1000 miles or so on a brand new unit. So sorta stand offish on purchasing another. Garrett's have never given me issues but their turbos are a bit outta my budget. Anyone have any recommendations? Looking to achieve

full boost by 3000-3500rpms
max power of 275-300whp
really want some low and very strong midrange
retaining stock redline
will be using a goautoworks cast manifold

gt28rs... pretty much an all around good performer with awesome response, could make your power goals no problem

Above, or for a cheaper option Garrett T3/t4oe 50 Trim. Which would give more PEak power then youre goals. The Gt28rs will spool faster tho. Both should give u a decent powerband for the street. But if youre never looking to make much over 300 and money aint a issue def go with above.

yeah I wish that was a option but that's outta my budget, trying to spend no more than $600 if I have to buy a brand new turbo.

Is Go-Autowork's cast manifold made for 5 bolt turbine housing or no?
You'll never get full boost by 3500rpms on a b17 without spending some moolah..regardless of company.. 300whp is very possible, but you don't need full boost pressure by 3000-3500rpms to get midrange torque.

Gotta go above $600 to get it done.. sorry. That will be the key factor on how you'll achieve this.

not looking to push much more than 300-330whp range. I intend on keeping the motor together and bone stock as b17's are hard to come by. I've have several past built setups and stock motor setups on E85 etc with larger turbos making 400+hp with a decent amount of lag, cars always got boring to me. I'd rather have a super responsive street car with A/C for once! I have looked at 50 trims I was thinking a .48 housing should suffice for a stock redline, or go .63?

Mac makes awesome turbos and this would fit your needs pretty close to your budget

i Would advise against the .48 a/r...DEFINATLY get the .63 a/r

Seems like the 50 trim is youre best bet with youre budget in mind

yeah I thought so too lol:p well the funny thing about me selling the DC was I sold everything so far except 85% of the turbo kit, just no interest for it so instead of letting it waste away I might as well put it on my daily driver. The only part I sold from the kit so far was the Hondata 4 Bar and my Garrett 60-1. I'm trying to keep a strict budget in mind on this car and take the "less is more" approach with the setup. Thanks for the well wishes man!

not sure I know it works with 4-bolt housings, i'll have to give Greg a call or maybe he might chime in.

any idea when this turbo would reach full boost on a b17? I talked to you about this unit a few years back.

Tried a few of those. Those were like 250whp, and not 350whp. They only seemed to work ok as twin applications. Otherwise I gave up on those.

Yes, yes, and yes... the new manifold design tilts the turbo out further and also, has better wastegate placement.

Here OP, here are some options...
