Default Need Help with turbo install

95 EX, Greddy Turbo Kit, HKS BOV, Vortech FMU, Spearco Intercooler and everything that pretty much that comes with a stock greddy kit. I'm also not running the Blue Box. The piping was custom.

I just got my car back after 2 days of installation. My engine bay looks like a mess, there are wires chilling about, I'm guessing their for the gauges. Then my turbo doesn't have a filter. I have the actual filter but I cant seem to figure out how to install it. Its an HKS filter, they told me it goes right on the turbo, but even if it would fit on it, there isn't enough room for it to fit. Now I've seen turbo cars that have the filter above right by where a regular filter sits. I was wondering how I can remedy this since I'm guessing running with out that filter is not a good thing. Maybe something I can do in the mean time? I don't want to mess up my turbo only after having it for 1 day. By they way, Turbo rocks! Things sucka pulls! Thanks in advance, looking foward to posting on this side of the board. (I will have pics of the set up and a pic of the mess tomorrow)

its actually ok to run w/out a filter on the turbo, but the filter helps prevent excess debris from getting the the compressor and ruining the turbo itself. just a precautionary measure. yea the filter should just attatch to the turbo intake piping via two c clamps that you use a screwdriver to tighten them on. its a breeze.

Theres no pipe coming off the turbo, do I need one? Or does it just attach to the turbo is self?

the filter doesnt mount on that outlet of the turbo. piping is supposed to and the filter goes on the end on the intake piping (obviously) but anyways here is a pic of my old turbo set up on my si. http://public.fotki.com/TMBurnerBU/t.../dscn0186.html

Whoa yer not even running a mesh screen over yer turbo? I'd be very careful where I drove. Doesnt take much to mess up your turbo when its spinning that fast.

not true, you can put a filter on there, if you find one that will fit, allot of people have done it this way

I had no filter on mine for a while and the charge pipes got dirty, I definately recommend attatching the filter. I would get some piping, silicon couplings, bends, and make your own pipe from the hardware store.

i think that it may be more benificial to put it up out of the way and not down in the path of the hot air flowing through that radiator.

Here is what I did, I used my old stock intake piping to mount the Filter on the Turbo. Yeah I know its wack but it works for now, I ordered the pipe from a local race shop for $15 so no worries.

noticed that the pipe has that nipple sticking out of it. is this supposed to hook up to the valve cover since the original one got replace by the charge pipes running to the tb?
