Default my WRX Dyno

Just benchmarking again.

Mods:
Unichip, Turboback exhaust (4" dp, 3.1" exhaust).

remember this is AWHP And AWTQ which is much lower than rwhp/rwtq (you can run 12's on stock tires with (240-250awhp). What suprized me was the tq numbers. The boxer motor is very torquey (sp?).
Hopefully, I'll be able to hit the track sometime this week.

With the unichip installed, how hard would it be to crank up the boost with those. I have read about the Unichip, in fact, I think I asked you about it in one of the other forums. If you increase boost with those, will the chip increase fuel in direct proportion to boost settings.

Also, what is the stock turbo on those capable of?

Stick, yeah I have a profec B now, but that doesn't add any more power since my 'high' boost is running the same exact boost curve (which is why I didn't list it). I just like the adjustibility.

btw, stick is making some NICE power as well.

The fastest stock turbo car is running 13.1's on stock tires. The stock ECU adds more fuel to compensate for added boost, but it adds way too much (safe, but not ideal for power). I usually run lower boost than the intended boost on a daily basis, but I don't know the consequences of running much higher boost than the chip is programmed for (since the chp itself uses the factory ebc, and shouldn't have to anticipate someone un plugging it). I'm not gonna find out though!

Thanks guys,

Not to mention its on a Mustang Dyno. When I was N/A, I had a chance to do a Dynojet and a Mustang Dyno within a couple weeks of each other. I pulled 197 fwhp on the Dynojet, and 172 on the Mustang Dyno... so yes those numbers are really good. EV

sweet. I didn't know this. I guess I should have driven from TX to Maryland just to use the other type of dyno j/k.

Yeah, even on the dynojet, the awhp always shows low. After about 250awhp, you need to ditch the 440s(stock), and get some 550's (STi). I mean, you can run 99% IDC's from like 5K to redline, but that takes some *****.

Just curious, how has your transmission held up? I hear horror stories about trannys breaking under stock boost and a few hard launches. That's the ONLY thing preventing me from getting a WRX right now. What have you done to strengthen the transmission? Thanx!

i'm interested too, i have a wrx. but i have on OT question...i don't know if you noticed this, but does you car make a stange noise when its really cold before it warms up? it's a bizzare sound...like a exhaust leak combined with a clinking noise. it only does it when it's been sitting for a while and really cold. maybe i'm just paranoid but i only have 5000 miles on the car and i don't know if its always been doing this or i am just starting to notice it.

thanks, and **** luck with your car.

The flat 4 boxxer engine is know for rough idle during cold or hot weather.

Moving from a no torque Honda engine to a whiplash, neck jerking EJ20 motor is like night and day.

yeah i also heard bad things about the stock trannys from my friend who has one. Doing AWD launches is pretty harsh though.

About the tranny,
The only people I've heard of braking them, have 6 puck clutches and/or sticky tires. The key is launching in boost and lighting the tires up (or slipping the clutch). No matter what, there is some shock, but you can minimize it that way. If you just drop it at say 5K without building boost, you hear a clunk. Not good.
I've made a lot of passes, and haven't had any issues. Yet.

Yeah, I've satisfied with my numbers for now. The peak numbers aren't high, but the power band is VERY useable, especially on the street.
more to come.
