My venture into the Nissan world, week 1
Friday, May 16: Pick up a 1995 240sx SE, gold in color, 108k miles, 5500 bucks.
It had a code for knock sensor and the timing chain had a little noise, nothing too bad. The plan was to have this as my daily driver, stock, for 2 months then i would swap it to SR20 power. I had also debated the possibility of turbo-ing the KA motor. Was to sell my GSR sedan on Sunday evening.
Saturday, go to NOPI event. Car drives flawlessly there, a/c blows WAY cold. Too cold for me. Gets gas milage similar to my GSR. Cool!
Sunday, to Nopi event again, car drives fine. No problems on the way there. Watch the event, had a good time. Bikini contest was kick ***. On the way home, I thought the timing chain noise got a little louder, but paid no attention to it. Then it got so loud i could hear it over the radio - not good. We pulled over in BFE to check it out. Turns out that timing chain rattle was masking another problem - a spun rod bearing
So to Ben and whoever else that was trying to get ahold of me, I was a little preoccoupied trying to find a tow truck and such and trying to figure out just what to do. I am going to swap it to SR20 for sure now, just wasnt planning to do it this soon. Thus I am FLAT broke, and I have 2 cars that don't run. Just thought I'd share

The S13 which was putting out 420whp @ 23psi now sports a Full Race manifold, Haltech, HKS cams/gears, and spits out 450whp @ 18psi. Still on pump gas, with the addition of only a head gasket from Apex. Stock unknown mileage block otherwise! We pretty much gave up adding more power to the car, as it gets sideways rolling into 3rd gear. We are now going to focus on getting some of this power down to the ground, which will include some big *** drag radials, possibly slicks in the future. That car is ******* scary fast. Did I mention it only weighs 2400lbs or so?

Hmmm... I think seeing a pic with them on it would be easier to decide. I can't tell if I like it or not looking at it like this

Yep definately a bad week. My brother blew up his 4dr last night. Went to pass someone, and it just lost power, and there was smoke ALL over. My every last dime goes to ring lands.
anyway, toss an Sr20 in there, be done until you get bored with it

eek, At least you're in a good mood about it. Keep us updated on it. My cuz has that exact same car in the same color. I like it. Good luck with it.

well you shouldnt ponder, you should just do it
As for the coupe, awaiting the turbo, and a few small parts. If not for the need of the 240-silvia conversion, I'd be finishing it up in a few weeks. Its getting pushed back a bit b/c of that but not much is left to do.
Thanks for all the support!

Re: My venture into the Nissan world, week 1 (VaporTrail)
Wow, that sucks. Sounds kinda like what happened to me, but I faired a bit better....
I traded my turbo Civic for a Celica AllTrac. A few days before we were supposed to actually swap titles, he spins a rod bearing in the Celica. He's a stand up guy, so he's giving me a new motor to install. The car sits in my driveway now, and the engine is supposed to show up tomorrow, and I'll introduce the two this weekend.
FYI- for those that don't know what an AllTrac is, it's a 3S-GTE equipped AWD Celica of which only 2500 were sold in North America between '90 and '93.
