is it my valves ?
i noticed a loud rattling/tapping noise that sounded like my lifters or valves got raped only when i tap the gas, not hold it in. there was oil all over my intake mani due to oil comming out of the valve cover vent.
The engine <U>still runs</U>. what do you guys think the problem might be?

i had the same problem with my 96 coupe man... i first thought it was my belt tensioner or waterpump, opened the whole thing up....wasnt the problem...i then adjusted my valves, they stopped tapping, but my ride runs shitty now....

im going to pull the valve cover off today and do a compression check, and see if anything seems broke, i just want to know what kinda things to expect with these symptoms.
i dont think my valves are out of adjustment... there is definatly something else wrong.

yeah.... I sometimes make problems seem like nothing too.
Do a compression test first thing.
i think what happened was i was taking it to high rpms and my lifter might have collapsed because of loss of oil to the head, hence all the oil all over my intake mani. When sittin over night the cam must have been in the right position so that the rocker was off of the lifter and it let the lifter build it self back up. nice</TD></TR></TABLE>yeah.... took valve cover off... pushed donw on the tops off the rocker arms and all but 2 intake valves moved.
so i pulled the head off and i guess im going to have to send it to a machine shop for a valve job

cometis makes great head gaskets. @ only 9lbs of boost, im still running a oem honda gasket.
you can always check out felpro gaskets, they have this MLS (multi layer steel) gasket, and they are great as well

Bump for a little help with that. Could it also be the lifters or what ?
Thanks for the help my head is at the machine shop for a valve job. Not sure if i would need to fix anything else while its there. I'm kind of in a hurry.

ok the machine shop that is fixing my head said that there is NO bent valves ?? what the hell else can make it tap like that ?? colapsed lifter or what ?
