Default My sidewinder install, clearance issues

Well yesterday I decided to start up my sidewinder install on my vx

I Have to mount a 10inch pusher fan in front of the radiator. due to clearance issues, the turbo is very close to the radiator like 1.5 cm close, thats with the radiator pushed up against the radiator support. I am running a small turbo too for now T3/T04e,

I was thinking about relocation the Radiator to the driverside, Has anyone done this?

I bought the sidewinder and piping off of an integra, the intercooler piping is a litte shorter (needs to be made longer) going from the turbo to intercooler.

More updates soon

Im currently installing a welded sidewinder manifold on a B18C1 hybrid like yours ... I found the solution is to Move the radiator to the driver side... but you will have to cut the ac condensor brackets ..

Im keeping my AC condensor though and simply slipping the radiator in front of the AC ... it looks like it is going to work fine once I re-weld some brackets ... keep in touch and Ill tell u how it turns out ...

Buy a slim fan (Like FAL) and mount it on the other side of the rad (the front) and wire it up to turn the opposite direction. Better still, buy a fan that is designed to be a pusher.

Where do the inlet and outlet of the radiator go, is it sideways? backwards? Do you mean AC in front of the radiator?

i would buy the slim fan or small circle fan and put it on the opposite side of the radiator........just a thought i dunno how it would do on a daily basis though.........oops i didnt read above....instead of wiring it backwards u can take the fan and turn it around in the actual assembly

no i said it right... radiator in front of the ac condensor... if they were the same sizes it wouldn't work but the condensor is smaller than the radiator... The oulet(top) exits right above the ac condensor , the inlet (bottom) exit right to the side of the ac condensor because they are slightly offset... ill show pics later...

From the pic, you are pretty much using the wastegate as a block off plate and it's not doing anything. You will see more boost than you will ever want to see if you leave it like that. You have both ports connected to each other and that wastegate is not connected to any vacuum source. If you want to run off of the spring w/ no boost controller, disconnect that vacuum hose off of the WG. Get a longer vacuum hose, connect it to the side port on the WG and run it to a vacuum source. Leave the top port disconnected.

Good luck with the clearance issue. I hate when stuff like that happens, but this type of stuff happens to all of us. Keep in touch with dasher, he looks like he has a solution.

And why is that?

Granted I don't know what the rest of his setup is or what his goals are for the car, but that's still a pretty decent sized snail to throw on.

... you can quickly get an idea of his setup by doing a quick search under in his archived history... you will notice threads referencing his sleeved, built gsr block with in ITR head... he has a serious setup... again, thats the smallest turbo Id go with for with that setup...

Well the sleeving and his blcok/head combo still doesn't do much for me. But I wasn't about to dig for his setup. It would depend on what HP level he were trying to reach and what kind of powerband he wants. If I only was looking for 275-300 whp, that is certainly not the turbo I would choose. Something a little smaller, but still had respective A/R on the compressor and exhaust would better suit it. Possibly a T3, or maybe even one of the precision turbos. I would even prefer something small like the ball-bearing GT28. But that is like comparing apples to oranges.

Anyways, the T3/T4e is a pretty big compressor, and is good for higher RPM and higher boost (14psi+). That is just my take on it. Eithe way, I'm sure it works well for him.

I dont have a built motor, its just an Itr head on a stock gsr bottom end, with arp headstuds.

I plan on running 12psi and goal of 300whp, I think I might just leave the radiator where it is and put a pusher fan in front of it.

just cut the radiator mounts off and have nick reweld them on ... the biggest bitch is going to be routing the hose ... other than that you'll be fine. your probly going to ahve to get flex hose

I tested all the clearances ... you can definetly have room if you want to move the radiator to the other side only if you don't run the AC like yourself ... their isnt enough room if you want to run with the ac condensor because the ac lines hit the manifold...

,... My tial 40 mm also hits my hood .... I had to go at my hood with a hammer ... cant blame cody ... he didn't make this manifold for a hybrid

I test fitted my welded sidewinder the other day. I currently have a 12" pusher fan on the front of my radiator...much easier than relocating the radiator.

My TiAL 40mm does not look like it will touch the hood. I didn't shut for clearance issues yet though.

I'm going to have to get funky with my 3" downpipe...it doesn't look like it's going to be able to come straight out of the side of the turbo...I'm going to have to immediately enter a sharp bend to clear the #4 exhaust runner.

It's exciting to see Sidewinders going on! I can't wait to get mine in!

Oh yeah, I've got a VX, B18A1, Welded sidewinder, Tial 40mm, Turbonetics t3/t04e [.60/.48] turbo.

my tial 40 mm barely hit the top of the hood... place a peice of tape -sticky side up on the highest portion of the tial and shut the hood to check....

... I'm just going with a pusher and not relocating my radiator too... need ac///

wastegate dumptube is tricky ... I think I have it figured out though...
