Re: (Boosted96EK)
you melted and since it's on the intake side you also had some nice detonation . You could have lasted longer, but oh well at least you aren't upset like a lot of people become. What are you plans for the new engine? Can you resuse the old block?

nice pistons uch:
out of curiousity was your engine still running even with the pistons in that condition or did it die completely? earl recived my B18C block yesterday and he got a chance to take the pistons out. He said that the pistons came out in pieces. I thought to me self "sweet!", hehehe.

the car could still drive but would smoke so much that it would fill the whole freeway with smoke..lol....i'm gettin the motor fully built..sleeved ...head work..new valve train and some other crap...the basemap i don't know about it was really just so i could run the rc750's it didnt idle right it would die if i accellerated and then let off the gas....something was wrong with the motor before i boosted it...i baselined it on the dyno with just a hondata and gutted cat...it only had 126.8whp...super low i know....compression was above 200psi on all cyl...as well...i didn't do a leakdown thou...i wanted to see how long it would last...well the car is at full race...their doin all the work for me...

Dont think tuning was a concern at that point. He did say the cars already over at full race, and we all know what that means, another street monster waiting to be unleased.

I don't see why people intentionally blow their motor's up. I understand you wanted to do a rebuild, but why not just rebuild the damn thing, instead of risking ruining everything in the motor, possibly the turbo as well. Just doesn't make to much sense.
But good luck on the rebuild. You will now have a crazy street car. Boost is fun.
That 4th pic is definitley a bad thing.

Re: (mildly.interesting)
wow and I thought my 3rd cylinder looked bad once I plucked out all the ringland chunks:
^^^ poor piston was the victim of the AFC hack, but you've got me beat!

I kept trying to blow my y8, but it never did.
D16y8 pistons/rods: $50.
D16y8 block: $100.
No major loss for us SOHC guys when we blow **** up
