My new downpipe and exhaust... finally got rid of the 2.5"
I've been wanting to go bigger for a while, and finally gathered up the parts and finished it. It's all 3", mandrel bends, yada yada...
Sorry for the crappy pics, I forgot to take them on the lift, so I was laying under the car... You can't see where the exhaust ends, but it dumps right after the muffler @ the hangers (right below the seats)
Because of the flange's holes for the studs being so close, we had to use 1/2 an inch of 2.5" pipe so the nuts would go on, we just flared it out and went to the 3".
I'm at 14 psi right now, on a crappy basemap tune, 550 cc's, stock cam gears... (b18c1) - saturday I am getting it tuned at 16 psi, 75lb holley injectors (796 cc I think), skunk 2 cam gears, and the 3" exhaust. I'm hoping for close to 400 whp.

Re: My new downpipe and exhaust... finally got rid of the 2.5" (Drag_On)
It's been on this tune for about 4 months and it's fine. Just running pretty rich (10 ish a/f's at 14 psi). I had quite a few things I wanted to change before I got it tuned so I put it off. Maybe I was lucky...whatever it was, it worked.

I didn't use flex b/c the exhaust ends at the first hangers, they are pretty flexible. They give the exhaust enough room to move forward and back with the engine.

What are you talking about? Having a built motor would be pointless if you weren't gonna put down decent power...

I believe he said that because you failed to mention any forged items pre-installed. If you ever boosted that thing before it was 100% warmed up, I'll laugh at you. 10:1 afr + chilly forged pistons = girly sparkly oil. 4 months of gasoline scrubbing oil off the cylinder walls can't be very good. Forged internals give you the right to crank the boost, not neglect the tune.
My thought is that if you're going to do it eventually, and putting it off could have *any* ill effects, do it asap. The tunning should've been done before the dp, but thats just me talking. Besides the missing flex pipe, looks good, nice ground clearance.

Re: My new downpipe and exhaust... finally got rid of the 2.5" (HiProfile)
Sorry, I assumed shooting for 400 horse automatically warrented forged internals...
I never boost or even drive the car cold. The only times the a/f's are in the 10's are at like 12psi on, and the car isn't at high boost very often, and when it is it isn't very extended periods of time. I've been being pretty easy on it...
Yes, I had originally ordered a 5" body muffler, but it was gonna hang a little low, so i went with this 4". The lowest part of the car is my homemade crossbar for my traction bars. I have them set up kinda like a skidplate though, so if/when they rub, they should be able to handle it.

I meant with a basemap tune you will never safely hit 400hp.

Hey man, yeah it was nice meeting you and seeing your car. We definately have to do some cruising this year, see how people like getting spanked by 2 integras.

Re: My new downpipe and exhaust... finally got rid of the 2.5" (Snail EK)
Thanks... The sound is growing on me, at first I didn't like it. My old setup (2.5" downpipe, midpipe, apexi n1 catback) was really quite. It just sounded like a normal (expensive) honda exhaust. Now you can hear the turbo, and it's got a totally different sound...and quite a bit more loudness. I can deal with it for the gains though...
