My first time at the track...just got back!!
My best slip was:
Reaction: 1.3956
60 ft: 2.3489
330 Ft: 6.3484
1/8 ET: 9.5833
1/8 MPH: 76.63
1000 ET: 12.3616
1/4 ET: 14.7122
1/4 MPH: 98.92
This was at 5psi of boost, T3/T4
On my last pass, I blew something 3/4 way down the track and all of a sudden i had no boost. Some peeps from the stand said they saw white smoke. I looked it over and one of the vacuum lines had split going to the boost controller. I took it out and reconnected the line to the wastegate...so no manual boost controller. I tried boostin and still reads 0.... I don't know what's wrong with it. I can hear the turbo kinda spoolin (not as strong as before), but no boost or BOV. I'm gonna check the intercooler piping tommorow, but at first glance everything still looked okay. ANyone have any ideas?? I drove the car home and had no problems, just no boost.
HELP!

Not a bad time did you have much weight redux, oh and how bad did the lack of boost effect acceleration...

Re: My first time at the track...just got back!! (turbozxi)
i didn't have any weight reduction, i had all the stuff in my car and everything.
the loss of boost caused me to run a 1/4 ET: 16.5293
i heard the pop and i slowed down before the finish

This has happed to me before. Check your piping and hoses that connect the piping. Also check your intercooler to see if it is not busted and leaking air out of it.
hope this helps

Re: My first time at the track...just got back!! (Vert)
what's the wastegate actuator?
also, if the wastegate was leaking wouldn't there be a loud nasty sound to it??
it runs really quiet

I had this happen driving normally, POP and turbo sounded strange and couldn't build boost.... took a good 20 mins of looking at the IC piping, and finally saw that the turbo IC pipe had popped off..... thank god that pop wasn't something else

dawn...
your best pass at 8psi was a 14.8?
is this because of your tranny you think?
cuz i was hoping for a 13 second pass with 8 psi of boost

Hey TurbothisLS, are u AUTO or Stick?? If stick, of course, you will be getting quicker times. But if not, I would really like to know what type of fuel setup you are running so I can try it out. I want to poost at 8psi but afraid it might be too much for stock interns for daily driving. Hey also about your manual boost control, is it safe and reliable? I'm thinkin about getting the TurboXS dual manual one.
This is for anyone, what's a safe range for stock interns, is it up to 9psi??

Re: My first time at the track...just got back!! (dlplayboy)
i have a 5spd.
i'm running the AFC hack.
i think i'm going to stay at 8 psi on stock internals.. i think any more than that on stock internals would be stressing the components..

Why would he be blowing white smoke if its just the piping that popped off? I would think black smoke if anything.

im pretty sure if it was your head gasket you could see smoke coming from the engine itself where the head meets the block, at least thats what happened on my buddies b16

Re: My first time at the track...just got back!! (00si5)
I hate when charge pipes pop off at the track. This one time I went lined up with this older Mustang. It was my first run and I ran a 14.7 @ 102 vs His 14.1 @ 98. Then My second run It just so happend I was with him again this time I got a good start off the line and I was realing him in real fast. I was almost even with him when all the suden I heard a loud pop! Dam It made me tap my brakes for a second. Ended up runing a 14.1 @ 94. After looking at my other times slips from the night I realized that it was a 13 second run (my 1/8 mile was a 9.011 @ 83 MPH) if I wouldn't have had the dam charge pipe blow off!!

Re: My first time at the track...just got back!! (89civic1.8T)
What causes the pipes to pop off? It sounds like most of you guys run a little extra boost at the track. Is the extra pressure what's causing it? Also, if you have trouble with 5psi or 8psi how do these guys with like 15psi keep theirs on?
