Default Are my EGT's high?

my WOT temps are 1010 C, cruising temps is 840 C, and idle temps is 420 C....i have Fmax H22A4 with T3/T4B 0.63 Stage 3 and 0.48 H-3, respecitively, running mf2, VAFC, AVCR (0.55 kg/cm2), and BTM (0.5deg/psi)...EGT probe is on the 3rd runner and 0.75" from the head...my A/F's are 11.5:1 to 12.0:1 when boosting with the FJO wideband O2...do u guys think these temperatures are high?...any help would be greatly appreciated

stock timing...15 deg BTDC with the BTM set at 0.5 deg/psi....on the newer prelude, u can't adjust the stock timing unless u use the BTM because the ecu resets it back, even if u adjust the distributor...do u think i should increase the BTM to 1.0 deg/psi

get it down to 750c because you are gonna melt something. I get scared when the temp goes over 800c. 780~820c after a hard run is an ok temp. What ECU/Timing retard control are you using?

i am using the MSD BTM...i got the temps a little lower...940 C at WOT...i originally had the BTM set at 0.5 deg/psi for the 1010 C WOT...i tried 1.0 deg/psi and i got 1080 C...so then i set it to 0.3 deg/psi and i got 940 C...i might try lowering the BTM

Anything past 900C will probably start melting important things like exhaust valves...

I think you are taking too much timing out, and the mf2 sucks for fuel control.

Try setting the BTM to zero and see what you get. Extra fuel probably burning on the way out ....

Guys can you tell me what the conversion is from C to Farenheit? My EGT reads about 1100 F and close to 1250-1300 at WOT. Is that too high? What is normal?

F => C
(deg F/1.8)-17.78 = C

BTM set to 0 deg/psi netted 910 C at WOT and car ran alot better...A/F were 11.8-12.2:1 on the FJO...thanks dustin

That's still way too high. I can't get higher than 750C at WOT.

Where is the probe tapped?

3rd runner and 0.75" from head...half the diameter of the primary as TOO stated....i seen a post where markc said he had 930 C WOT with the 0.48 compressor housing

Hmm... you sure that all the fuel is not going to other cylinders? The MF2 fuel solution is wack (yo).

Check your plugs... I bet #3 has little silver specks on it And the rest are black ...

yea, the mf2 sucks but i am low on the funds with all this **** i bought....i'll upgrade later to hondata or aem ems but the mf2 will have to do for now and i'll check the plugs after the engine cools a little...do u think it has anything to do with the small compressor housing?

No. it's a fuel/ignition issue.

what do u think i can do to lower the egt's?
Add more fuel!!

Im running my afc mod and my EGT never goes above 710-720C at WOT (at any boost) Crusing at highspeed sometimes it runs as high as 750C but never anymore. At say 60mph im running around 650-660C.

I would get a little scared with anything past 800C personally.

I have a greddy EGT gauge.

ground your knock sensor to the frame, then use your BTM. you have to remove the timing adjust from your distributor also. I think I did a long answer to this a couple months ago, take a look.
P.S. think yr creen name is great, reminds me of snacks I used to serve at my houseparties in the 80's, hard part was getting the toothpicks in the ludes.

Those preludes have a fixed distributor and entirely ECU controlled ignition timing....
