Default My Custom 2.5" Greddy B Series Downpipe .. Should I add Flex Pipe (PICS, 56K ok)

Hey guys, I need some help.

I recently got a muffler shop to make me a 2.5" Downpipe for my Greddy Turbo kit. As you can see from the pictures its the same flanges that will bolt right up to the existing system with a wideband bung for tuning and a bung for the 02 sensor.

I was thinking that I could use the spring bolts that came stock with my car, but the bolts are too small and won't line up. Next thought was adding flex pipe to the Stainless steel in order to compensate for the engine torquing under load etc.

I want some thoughts, I was figuring to cut the downpipe and add an 8" section of flex pipe. Look at the picture below and tell me what you think. This downpipe is bolting up to a 2.5" High Flow cat, 2.5" SS Piping and 2.5" ES OVal style muffler from MKTellers Group buy.

Thanks - Fred

Add a flex pipe after the flange and replace your cat with the flex pipe.

I would add a flex pipe. They're only l ike $35.
What are you using to plug the extra O2 bung? I was too lazy to go look for a suitable plug, so I just stuck an old O2 I had lying around in there

Fred's a ***... He's still thinking about the flex pipe. Also, for that extra o2 bung...it's a plug that I paid $3 for.

Dang, $3 for a plug? Where can I find it? Maybe I'll just take my extra bung down to Home Depot and see if anything matches up.

Yeah...pricey isn't it. I got it at a local muffler shop. You can try Home Depot...I tried, but I couldn't find anything to match up. Maybe you will have better luck though. Keep us posted if you do, it could save us a few bucks.

The measurements on the o2 bung are 'M18x1.5"... 18mm, 1.5 thread pitch.

Homedepot doesnt have it, it's an odd size.

This is what i say and what i am doing. When emissions comes around, it is not hard to replace with the stock cat and stock downpipe.

I think the simplest way would be to add it where you have it layed out. I think a lil' more complicated, but imporved way, may be to add flanges to the front and back of the flex section and replace your cat. When emmisions rolls around just swap em. Also, you must have the flex, but I think you know that. My brothers exhaust snapped because the greddy doesn't have a flex section.

If you are worried about emission, do like Cheezefrog has. Bolt up some baseline honda stock OEM exhaust up to the car with the stock cat, resonator, and all. Hell, put another cat or resonator on the piping if that matters. Then, put a electronic cutout behind the DP. Open exhaust for performance and a closed one for emissions.

Price depends a lot on length, not just diameter. Maybe the $35 price is for a real short one. A while ago I bought a medium length SS 2.25" one from jcwhitney for around $35 though. Not sure if they are higher nowadays, but you might want to check there.
