Is it my Compression Ratio?
A while back, my stock turboed GSR took a crap on me, the motor had massive bLow-by and a cracked ringland and the boost would creep to 16lbs on my stock map sensor(reason was boost controller).. took that motor out and replaced it with a built block. my car seems to jerk up at high rpms(5000rpm) like someone is holding me off the ground while im trying to run and then puts me back down.. i calibrated my tps(4.5 at wot, 0.5closed throttle). did this new compression throw my tune off a bit? or a lot? dont have a wideband so i dont know my afr.. and if knowing my dyno #'s on the old set up wouold help here they are.. 310whp @12psi(creeping to 16)... any knowledgable input would be nice.. thanks and have a blessed one
~Ladarius B.
new block consist's of:
B18a1
J.E 9.0.1 CR
Eagle RODs
block Girdle
Moroso oil pan
Turbo setup:
Ebay t3o4e 57trim
SSautochrome mani(still holding)(surprised)
RFL BOV
Xs Power wastegate
FMIC
RC 750cc injectors
Hondata s100..
Hallman Boost controller(new)(doesnt creep)
Update 7/21/2010
car revs at idle then drops down real low then idles back to normal state? video below click it..
Update 8/5/2010
Did a boost leak tesst intercooler was blowing air!! under pressure.. new intercooler will be in shortly...
FIXED!!: Turned out to be
Small boost leak
Bad Ecu(Crome)
New plugs
Smaller Spark Plug Gap
Also the reason my car kpt over heating is because I had no thermostat(coolant never cooled down after start up)
needed new wires

Re: Is it my Compression Ratio?
I'll let the experts chime in, but I would imagine that your compression would at least have interaction with your ignition timing.
Also I couldn't possibly recommend enough that you should have a wideband afr gauge once you start getting into heavily modified ecu tuning. There like $200 now-a-days and are invaluable info.
It does sound like cost is a concern, but are still things you can't ignore.

Re: Is it my Compression Ratio?
you are absolutely correct, the reason I did without the A/F was because i did'nt want a lot of guages clutterd in my car.. and at the time i couldnt afford a precise/accurate wideband and didnt want an ebay one.. but i never though about ignition timing and my comp ratio..

Which boost controller where you using on your old set up? try that and see if it fixes it. i see you got a new boost controller that doesn't creep. which means your actually running 12 psi when you are tuned for a creeping 16 psi. you would have noticed this if you had a wideband in the car.

pulled my plugs the base of the timing strap is black, then it has a dab of black to it, then it turns back black, then one dab of white... the tip of the ground strap is whitish grayish... threaded portion is black on one thread then shinny on the rest... porcelain area is white...

It is *normal* to have that, but you can reduce it by using a catchcan to catch the oil vapor before it hits you intake pipe.

Well if you mean your VTEC isn't turning on, then that could, scratch that, will have a big effect on your top end.
Is that the question?

Re: Is it my Compression Ratio?
Has the car been re-tuned? I can't believe after all these changes, and the OP is complaining about how the car is running differently on an old tune, AND he doesn't even have a wideband which costs like $200 these days... A++ for effort
