My complete turbo EF build from start to finish
Well i guess nothings ever finished. But im happy with the drivetrain for now ! Heres a quick rundown on my turbo EF build !!
So this is my $1000 beater. It started life as a d16y7, DPFI, gutless POS. Please keep in mind the body is still beat to ****. I daily drive this car 80km's so the build took me a little while.
I found a good deal on a greddy 15g and manifold, for $225 i had to get it
I then decided i was getting into the thick of it, so i had to do a mpfi swap, heres a pic of my z6 manifold
$100 front mount i bought locally
Some aluminium piping for my charge pipes i got for cheap too
$30 tial wastegate with a 7psi spring, cant beat that !
more bits
Some mocking up
Got a friend to CNC me some flanges for $20, and made my downpipe from scratch, y pipe and all ! Found a wicked program to make my y pipe, you print out a piece of paper, wrap it on a piece of 2.5", cut it out, repeat, weld it, good to go !
Fancy gauges
o0o0olala
FMIC fabbing
some interfoolin
at work !
Duct tape tack welds !
Running on base map !
Messed up the HG, so i did some arp studs, all better now
white hood...
In the mix i had to change my clutch, i did a stage 4, 6-puck comp and an si trans i got free on a $50 a6. She wines a little but whatever, threw in some cvs i got from the same car and i was rockin. Drove it for a month or two on basemap, finally got her tuned by a local honda shop who knows what there doin, heres the dyno sheet at 10lbs
226whp, 229lb-ft. Car weighs in and around 2000lbs.
Some other notes, the car has solid motor mounts (filled stockers with seam sealer). Had to do a new map sensor as mine failed on the dyno and car would go lean. Also did a walboro 255 fuel pump. I like this civic because i have done everything myself except the final welds, as i cant weld aluminium, and my welder is a piece of junk !
What do you guys think she'll run on the 1/4 mile ? Im hopin in the 13's, i was originally thinking 14's, but the numbers are looking promising !
Next step is some tires for my riken turbos, and coilovers. Maybe a bit of brake work too, might as well do it all now..
