Default My b18c :)

So I got my JDM b18c in, and I know alot of you saw the pics... I plan to rebuild alot of this engine... atleast the block and transmission while it's out of the car... then I plan to do the rest while it's already dropped in...
So what I'm asking is right now as it sits straight from where I got it, what can I begin to do? Where would you start?

Can I start by unplugging the wiring harness? How am I going to know how my DX harness plugs back in? I have the wiring sub-harness from HASport for the VTEC, so I'm okay on that.

What else can I do? Water pump? Timing belt? Spark plug, wires, cap, rotor?

Just basically trying to get opinions on what people would do in my position right now. I will be rebuilding alot, but I'm not ready to send the block in or anything just yet... but soon.

I plan to turbo this engine to hopefully achieve 300+ Whp... what mods would you do to this engine? Rough prices? I just wanna know what people would do in my position.. what makes sense to build up first, etc...

I know im doing a whole new clutch, flywheel.... im gonna need lower compression pistons... brands, favorites and prices anyone?

I want to do... rings, rods, pistons, rod bolts, sleeve it, 3 angle valve job, valve springs, i wanna rebuild A TON of this motor... i wanna bore it out too... what do yall think? In detail...

THANKS!

Just use a In-linePro, RevHard, or Drag cast manifold.

300WHP should be a pretty easy. I wouldn't change anything on your motor unless it needs it. That motor should handle close to 300WHP stock, if you do all the things you have listed you should have a ~650WHP capable motor, if its done right. Just find a good turbo kit that meets your needs.

I would say swap your motor now and leave it stock for a while.

Get used to the B18C... which is obviously a huge upgrade.

Once you get it running nice and get used to it then decided to turbo it. There's not harm in waiting.

Do some research while your at it. Search this forum for a couple days and you'll see what I'm talkin' about. There's so much good info out there.

300 whp is easy with a B18C.
My brother has a bone-stock bottom end on his B16. He's been boosting 18psi from a T3-T4 (Turbonetics) turbocharger and makes 359 whp and 235 lb.-ft.

The B18C should require maybe 12-14 psi to reach just 300whp.

go to http://www.dmspower.com. That's my local shop in Dillsburg, PA. So if you are in Philly... then you're about 2 hours away. They are nice people. Ask for Brian or Hiro if you call/email.

Awesome info everyone thanks alot!

I want to do some work with the block, pistons and rods at least... get the compression down.

I wanna replace all the gaskets and just make sure everything is running really good...

can someone help me better understand what honing is? i think it would be good to bore this to 2 liters... basically, if im sending the block in to get sleeved, i wanna do whatever i can while its out.... plus i gotta put new pistons and all in there anyway...

You can use a DX harness...you will have to extend a few wires though.

I will be busy work if you do it now though. If your planning on completly rebuilding the motor, you might as well save the harness till the motor is back together...

Yeah, not a bad idea for the long run. I think you'll be able to hit 300WHP with 7 to 9PSI at your current compresion ratio. BodyKitsNW is close to 400WHP with 10.5psi, keep in mind he has other mods...

Honing is prepping the cylinders for the piston rings. It resurfaces them with a cross-hatch-sorta pattern. It allows the rings to seat correctly. You can do it yourself or just leave it to a decent machine shop.
