My 99 SiR build
Shout out to all fellow honda lovers from Edmonton, Alberta, Canada
I have always used this site for info over the years and finally decided to share my honda history
The SiR is my 2nd honda and my 2nd build. I used to work at a Honda dealership and never used to be a fan of hondas until I drove a 00 Sir that was lowered with all the bolt ons that came in for service. Set the wheels in motion for my first build.
I had plans for a turbo build even tho I didnt even own a honda at the time. So i bought a complete b16 swap just to get things started while I was shopping for a donar car. Disassembled everything as soon as I got it for a full rebuild and new bottom end with low comp pistons and eagle rods
But then a minty 92 coupe came into the lot on trade in... only 142000 km... I bought it the next day haha
Instantly pulled out the stock d15 and swapped in the b16
A turbonetics t3/t4 ball bearing turbo and countless other mods later and this was the finished product before I sold it to buy my SiR shell and block
SiR Build starts now

Re: My 99 SiR build
So after owning my ej for 3 years it was time to move onto something else... A friend of mine had a 99 SiR he was doing a turbo build on but he had un foreseen problems and had to part and sell. I told him I would take the shell and listed my car for sale. I had a few calls right away, took one guy for a drive and he bought it on the spot.
I went and picked up the SiR and started getting a engine together. I originally wanted to go with another turbo build but ended up doing a mild NA build and came across a used nitrous kit. Then I installed a JRSC for a summer and now i am currently underway on a new turbo setup lol
I have made a detailed build thread on a local forum and will take forever to make another thread that detailed again so here is a summarized version to get caught up. Its been 3 years in the making at this point
Golden Eagle Sleeved B18A bored to 84mm
11.5cr JE pistons with eagle rods
ARP head studs
New bearings
Type R oil/water pump/moroso oil pan
PR3 head
Supertech valves/springs/retainers
CTR cams
Toda Replica headers
And came across a used direct port nitrous kit
New AEM cam gears
Skunk2 Intake mani and 68mm TB
B&R fuel line and breather setup

Timed the engine
Installed the clutch masters clutch/flywheel
and installed the transmission
And going into its new home
Made a new injector harness to for the larger nitrous fuel rail and changed to a smaller cleaner looking nitrous line
Got a different set of headers and finished installing everything else.
Mishimoto rad/fan/shroud/reservior
Cf whale ***** and breather. Nitrous solenoid wiring and wired in a resistor box for the dsm 440cc injectors
Got a skunk2 2.5" catback from a friend and made a test pipe
Installed a pair of ITR recaros in need of a cleaning. Striped the back seats and truck. Mounted the nitrous bottle and battery
Got a AEM wideband. Autometer Nexus control module with nitrous and fuel pressure gauges. Also mounted my nitrous arm and purge switch
Installed NRG wheel, skunk2 shifter and ****
Also cut out my glove box to mount my Hondata S300
Skunk2 coil overs, camber kits, Function7 LCAs, BWR sub frame brace

Re: My 99 SiR build
Fired it up, got it warmed up and timed. Backed it out of the shop and drove it to the car wash. So dusty from sitting for almost 2 years
And a trip to the dyno
see links for video of a few pulls

Re: My 99 SiR build
The nitrous wasnt enough so after some shopping around I found a JRSC. Used some elbow grease and gave it a new look. Replaced the tensioner bearings and got new belts
Installed the JRSC and made a new intake arm
Got a another autometer nexus gauge to match the others. Vac/Boost this time
Got some CTR rep headlights, yellow halogens and some new fogs to replace my cracked ones

Re: My 99 SiR build
Got myself some more nitrous reserve... Picked up two 10lb bottles and polished them up.
Also got a aluminum battery box
Needed a new stereo head unit and have always wanted a navi/touch screen
Then this came across my eye
Made myself a bezel and got it wired up and fully operational

Re: My 99 SiR build
After this season when I parked the car I pulled the engine again. Plans for the turbo build have finally come. Should have just stuck with boost from the start but it was good experience. Not many ppl have had every kind of induction on their car.
Last drive before going away for winter hibernation to my dads shop
And out goes the engine again
Cleaned and bagged everything to bring back to my condo with me to begin the turbo build. Started by selling off the things i wouldnt need anymore. JRSC, headers, cat-back etc

Re: My 99 SiR build
The plan is to do a piston swap from 11.5 down to 9 for lots of boost. 1000cc injectors and a topmount turbo.
After lots of research i made the decision to order a Top mount kit from Greg at Go-Autoworks.

Re: My 99 SiR build
Looks good TGonie! (I'm holset hatch on the local boards) Nice to see you come over to the turbo side. You've got the right parts to make some great power. Maybe I missed it but what fuel pump are you using? Any plans to strap some slicks on it and make a few runs?

Re: My 99 SiR build
Im running a 255lph walboro pump. I am planning on getting a nice pair of slicks and beefy axles eventually, sooner the better. I really wanna hit castrol as much as I can this summer since I should be able to put down some quick passes now. Pistons, a rehone and injectors are top priority right now tho. I still gotta save some cash for the tune and my portion of kennys accommodations in may. I forgot how expensive this turbo **** gets lol

Re: My 99 SiR build
Made 183whp NA, 238whp on a 60 shot
Ran into fueling issues with the jrsc tho. Unfortunatly the jrsc was a spur of the moment buy, I didnt originally build the engine for boost. 11.5 comp ratio maybe even higher with some decking and flat valves.
I wasnt expecting good numbers, just had a opportunity I couldnt pass up. Even running only 6 psi there was detonation as soon as we started to give the engine any timing. Only made 202whp with a super conservative tune. Rich and retarded on boost. Definatly picked up alot of low and mid range power tho.
The whine of the blower still made it all worth while
Oh yea, running Husky 94 octane

Re: My 99 SiR build
You didn't have enough injector for the jrsc, 440s on that much compression won't work... and if you had a meth injection kit and bigger injectors you would've been fine... can't run that high compression without e85.. 10:1 is about as high as you can go with forced induction of e10 (standard pump gas)

When I had originally built the engine I had no intentions of boosting it... But **** happens and now im just doing what I should have done from day 1.
Ill have more updates as spring gets closer and I get everything back into the car and running
