my "new" ARC intercooler..
Well since my accident, i've been looking around for a new intercooler.
I stumbled across this one for US$300 at the car parts market here. Original ARC intercooler from Japan (complete with plate on top of intercooler) in about 80% condition. A little damage at the bottom, and the fins need to be straightened out, along with getting the thing polished, but I think it should look quite good on my civic once its been cleaned up, what do u people think? Apparently this particular intercooler was used on a Supra before as the intercooler piping is huge, I think it was originally 2.5", but the previous owner enlargened it to 3". I'll probably have to bring that down to 2.5", not sure with a B18C turbo..
Dimensions of the core of this intercooler is 18"x 11" x 2.5". My old VR4 intercooler was 16.5" x 8" x 2.5". I imagine that i'm gonna have a lot of fun trying to fit this thing into my bumper
also got a picture below of my old intercooler compared to ARC one.
Front
Rear
Damaged at the bottom on the front
Comparison with my old intercooler

fucked up? haha that's an understatement - what you see there is the "nice" side (or the rear) of my old intercooler. The front looks much more pretty

Nathan, WTF happened there???
BTW, I'm LudeLover on Hondamod.com, you may remember me. I'm still a mod over there, for now. I've got a 4th gen civic now that I'm working on a custom turbo install for. Should be done in a few weeks.

$$300 ?? that's pretty expensive for that intercooler considering its dimensions and condition.. just my opinion..
for about $50 more u could have bought a brand new custom made one from a guy on Ebay that makes them and sells them on there... I was gonna buy one from him, but his price was a bit high for me, but his units do look nice though..

Too much NAAWWWSS - it almost blew the welds on his intake manifold, but it only took the IC this time.

Hah, guess what. Looking at your old core--from the Galant you say. This is the same exact core that the starion uses. I just used your measurements and compared them to my starion and they are exactly the same. Even the core looks the same too. The only difference is the end tanks.
How did you like the old one??
Oh, and I like the new one!

ARC one of the best japanese cooling experters.
Their IC flows very well. and cools the air nicely, too.

Re: my "new" ARC intercooler.. (dangerzone)
I returned it. We did a kind of "leakdown" test with the intercooler, and 40% of the air that went into it was leaking out of it from where some of the fins joined up with the endtanks. Upon close inspection, you could see small cracks.. but no loss.. my ECU tuner will be going to the US for business in a few weeks, so I might get him to pick me up a new intercooler over there. Anything you guys recommend for no more than US$400? Cheaper that that is okay too How about sizes.. anyone out there with Civic EKs please tell me your intercooler size like I did above.. i'm very interested in knowing your sizes..

Sparco? You can get one with a pretty large core for cheap. I am thinking in the $300 range, but better check that with someone.
