Default muffler orientation

I got my muffler today and this is the first time I see something like this. As I looked inside there "nipples" with hole on 'em pertruding up. So I assume this muffler must be put on with a specify orientation. It's just a cheap Dynotech mufler that I want to use temporary. Here is a quick illustration of what i'm talking about.

So which way would the exhaust travel. A or B?

thank you.

Those little "nipples" are louvers... they are designed to lower the exhaust note, they do work but are horribly restricitve.

Most people that run a louvered muffler install it as illustrated in "A"
As having a louvered muffler and installing it like "B" defeats the purpose of having that style muffler in the first place, but to each their own

yeah, I was thinkinf of going with B too since it made more sense. they're not that high so i dont think it will be THAT horribly constrictive. The car is so loud with no mufler now it's unbarable.

well, by going B, it wont supress any sound, becuase the only way for the exhaust gasses to enter the muffler packing material is by those little holes.... If you want the car to be quiet install it like A, if you install it like B, there will be little to no sound supression and youll be getting nothing but backpressure

Oh snap, i'm an idiot, I mean A. I didn't even look at my own picture when I replied. I know going "over"t hose nipples will defeat thier whole purpose. I meant to say goign with option A make more sense. My bad.

oppss. turned out both of us were wrong. As i was about to weld it on, I noticed there was a tiny word "inlet" stamped on the tip. So I installed it and i loved it, it was a big change over from open exhaust.
