heard about the MSD ignition how it doesnt use the stock ICM and uses a hall sensor instead. how would this be affected with AEM EMS? would it be a good ignition setup to go with? would i still need the ignition driver? anyone who has used this setup please chime in. i am aware of the MSD screw issue of the rotor coming loose and damaging the dizzy

I've not had any problems with the MSD Pro billet and AEM EMS. Though if you do have the money I would highly recommend T1's cam trigger kit

What Alpha said, if you've got the $ for the MSD distributor setup, then get Tony's setup. I have it and love it.

i wish i had 1700 for that ignition setup would be nice. but unfortunately i dont have it lying around.

Damn, mine didn't cost $1700. I got the T1 kit, a used MSD 4-channel ignition controller (later switched to AEM) from a Mustang guy who was upgrading, and a set of Honda 600i motorcycle coils with plugs.

well im refering to the full t1 kit. cbr coils, MW 14 and the trigger kit.

You can save a little bit of money and still have a high quality ignition system with COP by going with the Pro 12 instead of the Pro 14 and running it wasted spark. Or you could keep the distributor and go with the pro 10 kit and the cam trigger kit.

id love to have the kit. but i asked about the MSD cause it says it uses a hall sensor and i believe your trigger kit is a hall sensor as well

It's not the same thing because it has a Hall effect sensor in it, but get what you can afford. I went with the T1 kit and cheap 4-channel controller/coils. The M&W ignition boxes are probably the best and most reliable thing out there, but I'm still not baller enough to buy one.

we have used a bunch of the T1 triggers, a bunch of msd distributors, a bunch of msd components, and some m&w products as well......


having used, and installed all of it........i think the T1 trigger with a m&w pro10 is the way to go.


i have ran into numerous reliability problems with the non digital msd boxes (digital boxes seem to work well--but have been able to run wider plug gap with the m&w--and the digitals are expensive), numerous issues with the msd distributors coming apart internally (never had a signal problem though)...and numerous issues with the coil drivers going bad.

by the time you buy the distributor, coil, and coil driver----it becomes a lot more expensive than it appears at first glance. im not 100% sure, but i want to say their distributor also requires you to run a different set of plug wires? and if your car is obd1, you will need to purchase the adaptor harness as well

If you get an msd distributor check all the hardware on it, seems they don't tighten anything when putting it together.
